Recently we have been hearing rumblings of a new addition to Samsung’s Galaxy range in the form of the Samsung Galaxy R, and we have even seen a couple of videos surface showing the Android smartphone, but now it appears that the Samsung Galaxy R has received the official stamp from both Samsung and NVIDIA.

According to the guys over at Engadget, Sammy and NVIDIA have now officially announced the Samsung Galaxy R will be heading for Europe and Asia at some point in the future, while the smartphone is already available in Sweden under the moniker of the Samsung Galaxy Z.

The general manager of mobile business at NVIDIA, Michael Rayfield says, “Samsung’s newest super phone shows off Tegra’s multimedia power, and is a great example of what consumers expect from one of the world’s top phone makers.”

Spec wise the Samsung Galaxy R offers the user a 4.19-inch WVGA Super Clear LCD touch screen, 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with LED flash, 720p HD video capture, 1080p HD video playback, 2 megapixel front facing camera, Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, NVIDIA Tegra 2 1GHz dual core processor, 8GB built in memory and microSD expansion up to 32GB.
