US Galaxy S II Variants Officially Announced

Well you all know it was coming, old Sammy has now gone all official and announced the Samsung Galaxy S II for AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, and apparently Sprint will be the first of the US carriers to offer the Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone to their customers.

According to an article over on Android Guys, Sprint will offer their version of the Samsung Galaxy S II as of the 16th of next month and will command a price tag of $199 no doubt based on the usual two-year agreement of course.

However when it comes to both AT&T and T-Mobile apparently they aren’t as forthcoming with release date and pricing for their versions of the Android smartphone and wouldn’t commit to any hard date or pricing they intend charging.

The president of Samsung Mobile, Dale Sohn says, “The unveiling of the Galaxy S II is a landmark achievement for Samsung, our carrier customers and consumers. Five million Galaxy S II smartphones have been sold around the world and that number increases every day. We believe the cutting-edge design, features and user experience of this innovative device will share the same level of success in the U.S.”

Basically the three Samsung Galaxy S II variants have identical specifications but will no doubt incorporate carrier unique content and selling features and all three Galaxy S II smartphones are 4G enabled.

So a quick spec reminder for anyone over in the good old US or A who might be contemplating snapping up the device from AT&T, T-Mobile or Sprint, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus touch screen, TouchWiz UI 4.0, 1.2GHz dual core processor, 8 megapixel rear facing auto-focus camera with LED flash, 1080p video, 2 megapixel front facing camera, A-GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, 1GB RAM, 16GB/32GB internal storage, microSD slot and 3.5mm jack.

So there you have it, the Sprint faithful will be able to pick up their Samsung Galaxy S II as of the 16th of September while the T-Mobile and AT&T faithful will have to wait a while longer, but at least you now know it is officially on its way.
