iOS 5 GM Jailbreak Sn0wbreeze & RedSn0w 1601 Error

It seems a few people are coming up with a few problems with iOS 5 GM jailbreak using Sn0wbreeze & RedSn0w, we have had a few emails mentioning the “1601 Error”.

Some of you might have come across 1601 Error whilst trying to use Sn0wbreeze or RedSn0w to jailbreak iOS 5 GM; if you have we would like to hear from you.

RedSn0w has a major update in September and many fixes, improvements and features were added, the update included the recovery fix that bypassed the known 1015 types of errors, but why is there signs of the 1601 error?

We also reported 3 days ago about the ability to jailbreak iOS 5 GM using the new Sn0wbreeze 2.8b8 update for Windows, this update included instant IPSW detection, ability to hacktivate, developer UDID check and much more. Read more about this update here.

So, two new updates to Jailbreak iOS 5, but a few getting very annoyed with the 1601 Error. If you have come across this problem please do let us know. Anything at all that you can tell us (in detail is better) please do share in the comments area below.

If you have had the 1601 Error and fixed it, we would love to know how you sorted out the problem. Thanks

Whilst on the subject of iOS 5, we asked earlier today if you know what time the new download update will go live, hazard your guess right here.

i had a multitude of errors after jailbreaking iOS 4.3.5.  totally bricked my iPhone.  I used Sn0Wreeze 0.9.9b.  At first the jailbreak appeared to work for about 24 hours. Then I plugged it back into my PC after a reboot to boot it up tethered and instead of pressing the “just boot right now” I pressed install cydia again (i was hungover).  The iphone showed some kind of error(i know..should have written it down)  then it would not do anything after that,  Forcing into DFU mode or recovery mode and then trying to update from itunes yields various errors…3194 being the most seen one

Have you resolved it? I encountered the same error number, and resolved it by modifying the hosts file and removing all reference to apple ip address. The “hosts” file is in C:WindowsSystem32Driversetc.
To edit the file, run Notepad as administrator, then locate and open the file from Notepad.
