We’ve seen many apps for the Apple iPad that turns your iOS slate into a guitar, but as far as I am aware we’ve never seen one that delivers the ability to turn your iPad into a real physical guitar until this iPad accessory called the iTar.

According to the guys over at Ubergizmo, Starr Labs has taken the iPad guitar a step further with the iTar, which uses patented button fret board tech, and apparently all a use does is dock their iOS slate, launch an app and you are off and running.

However unfortunately you can’t purchase the iTar yet as it is a Kickstarter project that required funding before getting off the ground, and the blurb on the Kickstarter page says…

“Our project is designed for musicians, guitar heroes, electronic artists, iPad junkies and hackers looking for a fun and easy way to take their show on the road. At it’s heart the device is a button-based guitar fretboard (Starr Labs patented fingerboard) integrated with a dock for the iPad which will transform the tablet into a 21st century musical instrument we call the iTar ™.”

If you are interested in offering backing for the project a 200 buck pledge will get you a first run edition of the iTar, whilst pledges go all the way up $10,000.
