iPhone 4S Over 4 Million Sales in First Weekend

Apple is smiling all the way to the bank today as they say sales of the iPhone 4S has topped 4 million over the first weekend of becoming available, nothing too surprising considering the iOS faithful following the company has, and no doubt bolsters the faithful’s belief that the platform is number one.

According to an article over on AllThingsD, along with that over 4 million iPhone 4S units sold over the weekend, Apple has also said that in excess of 25 million devices now run their latest operating system iOS 5.

Phil Schiller, senior vice president of Apple said in a statement, “iPhone 4S is off to a great start with more than four million sold in its first weekend–the most ever for a phone and more than double the iPhone 4 launch during its first three days.”

Apple had already confirmed that the iPhone 4S had already sold 1 million on the first day of pre-orders, and Apple has further stated that over 20 million people have now signed up for iCloud.

Apple currently plans on having the iPhone 4S on sale in 70 countries by the end of the year; the device is currently available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Japan and France, with 22 more countries releasing the iPhone 4S on the 28th of this month.

Thus despite earlier speculation that the iOS faithful weren’t too happy at Apple releasing an upgraded iPhone 4S rather than the expected re-designed iPhone 5, it would appear no matter how little an upgrade Apple push out it will always be destined for a huge success.
