Has iOS 5.0.1 public update helped battery life? Update

The new iOS 5.0.1 public update can now be downloaded and installed, and it apparently fixes that dreaded battery life issue, amongst other things. At last Apple has released this after allowing developers to test it first.

iOS 5 promised to bring over 200 new features, but a few issues were not expected, such as battery life problems. The new public release now fixes bugs affecting battery life, adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad, resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud, and also improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation.

Many complaints rolled in to us about the poor battery life on the iPhone 4S, and we are calling out to our readers who have installed this new iOS 5 update to come forward and let us know if it now gives you more battery life.

As a warning, if you are a jailbreaker, stay away from this update; we will give you more news about this today. Get your iOS 5 update via iTunes right now, once you have done so please visit our commenting area and let us know how it went.

UPDATE: We have had someone send us this in, “The update is not yet available for the UAE, had to use a VPN to pull the update”, could anyone verify if this update is available in UAE?
