Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 public release with RedSn0w
The new iOS 5.0.1 is now ready for the public to download and install, you can now jailbreak this using RedSn0w. We have already reported earlier today about the release and of course if it has fixed the battery life on your iPhone 4S.
Earlier today we reported via sources, that the new iOS 5.0.1 does not fix the battery life issues, you can read more about this here.
Whilst on the subject of iOS 5.0.1, you can now jailbreak this public update using RedSn0w 0.9.9b8, iDB have the full how to break down on how to do this on their website. There has been a warning issued, suggesting if you wish to jailbreak your device you should stay away from iOS 5.0.1, especially on the iPhone 4S.
The warning also has been mentioned for those that have no way to downgrade firmware back to a prior version, the jailbreak the source above mentioned is a tethered one, if you want untethered you are out of luck.
iDB has put together a simple 6 step list on how to Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Final With RedSn0w. If you do try this out could you please let us know how it went?

Please dont jailbreak ur ipod touch if it is a 4th gen and running on iOS 5.0.1. My ipod is now bricked, (black screen) 🙁
Karam, try holding down the power and home button for a while until something happens. I thought that my iPhone had been bricked too but I did what I said and it works again.
Doesn’t work for my iPad 1. Redsn0w says it can’t recognize my 5.0.1 IPSW.
Same with my iPod touch 4th gen. I even downloaded the 5.0.1 ipsw
I managed to get my iPad 1 jailbroken on 5.0.1 final with the latest sn0wbreeze.
same redsn0w cant recognize 5.0.1
select IPSW manually to old 5.0 firmware then jailbreak
