Dell Streak 7 sadness, no Android Ice Cream Sandwich update

Although we just let Dell Streak 5 owners know their device can be updated to Android Gingerbread as of right now, when it comes to the Dell Streak 7 and an Android 4.0 update it appears that the outlook is somewhat grim because apparently the Dell Streak 7 isn’t going to see Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

According to the guys over at Streak Smart official word has come down via @DellCares, Dell’s Social Media Outreach Twitter account confirming that Android Ice Cream Sandwich is not going to hit the Dell Streak 7 handset.

Here’s what the tweet announced… “@giveen Unfortunately, no plans to develop ICS for Streak7. See here if you are interested in unofficial version del.ly/6018RUTp -AB”

The link in that tweet shoots you off to YouTube to view a pre-alpha build of Ice Cream Sandwich for the Dell Streak 7 slate (view below), so one would presume if you want Android 4.0 on your Streak 7 you’ll have to take the unofficial route.

So there it is, if you do own a Dell Streak 7 Android tablet any hopes of officially being updated to Android Ice Cream Sandwich have now been officially dashed, so maybe it’s time to ditch the Streak 7 and get yourself a new slate that either has ICS or one that will be updated to ICS in future.

Of course if you do own a Dell Streak 7 and this news upsets you feel free to vent your annoyance at Dell in out comments area below.
