Apple iPad 3 to get double camera bump

Rumour has it that the next generation iPad will come out to play sometime soon, although it still isn’t known whether the new iOS slate will be a full on new Apple iPad 3 or an upgraded Apple iPad 2, and there have been rumours of two iPads coming, and new we have more speculation on what the next generation iPad has to offer.

According to the guys over at 9to5 Mac, Jeremy Horwitz of iLounge used his Twitter account to shoot off a few details on the next iPad and claims that the front camera on the new Apple tablet will be a FaceTime HD camera and that the rear snapper will fall on par with the iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S camera depending on lens size.

Apparently Horwitz also reaffirmed word that the next iOS slate will be slightly thicker than the iPad 2 due to new parts, and should be approximately 1mm thicker; he said, “Curve radiuses on the body will change only a little to accommodate the added thickness, not dramatically. Think iPad 2 Pro, not a redesign.”

That iPad 2 Pro remark looks to me as if we will be seeing an upgraded iPad 2 rather than the full on Apple iPad 3, but as everyone knows, Apple never confirms anything until they are good and ready, everything is up in the air and still only rumour, and whether Apple will call the next iPad the iPad 3 or another name is again still a mystery.
