CES 2012 will showcase Corning Gorilla Glass 2

Tomorrow sees the Consumer Electronics Show kick off in Las Vegas, and word has it that the makers of Gorilla Glass, that tough glass found on mobile devices is to show off the next generation Gorilla Glass, aptly named Gorilla Glass 2, and Corning has let us know what we can expect with this latest touch glass.

According to the guys over at Droid-life, senior vice president and general manager of Corning, James R. Steiner had this to say…

“Corning Gorilla Glass has been a tremendous success for Corning, enjoying excellent market acceptance across mobile device industries. Handset and tablet device manufacturers are clearly driving toward higher functionality from thinner designs. Corning’s latest innovation in Gorilla Glass technology is very well positioned to meet these challenges and enable broader touch technology penetration.”

Have to say that I have Gorilla Glass on my Samsung Galaxy S and although I have dropped the handset on more than one occasion the screen still looks like new thanks to that tough Gorilla Glass, and I am sure many others out there have found the same with their smartphone.

And no doubt this Corning Gorilla Glass 2 will deliver even better results as it is to have a thinner design enabling for slimmer handsets, and apparently we can look forward to product details in an announcement from Corning sometime today the 9th of January.
