HTC Velocity 4G, Telstra prices and plans

For those Android faithful down under it appears that the first 4G enabled smartphone on Telstra is to be the HTC Velocity 4G, and apparently 4G surfing smartphone wannabees will be able to purchase the LG Velocity 4G from the Australian carrier in the not too distant future.

According to an article over on Ausdroid, numerous unnamed sources have it that the LG Velocity 4G should surface at the end of this month, although Ausdroid’s source claims the Android 4G smartphone will release on the 24th.

They say judging from the image they were given, the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread smartphone will become available from free up to a $79 upfront cap and included on the 79-buck Freedom Connect Plan is 2GB of data including 4G as far as they are aware and $800 of call credit.

When it comes to specifications the HTC Velocity 4G is fairly similar to that of the HTC Sensation, and thus offers a 4.5-inch qHD 960 x 540 touch screen along with an 8 megapixel rear facing camera, 1080p video, a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, 1GB RAM and a 1.5GHz dual core processor.

Thus if your are wishing to play on the Telstra 4G network in Australia it would appear for the time being anyway your only option is going to be the LG Velocity 4G, any of our Australian readers going to be picking up this Android handset once Telstra releases it?
