Nokia Lumia 800 update for battery draining problem

As I am sure owners of the Nokia Lumia 800 will know, some of the Nokia Windows Phone handsets have been experiencing battery drainage problems, and not too long ago Nokia did say they would deliver an update for the Nokia Lumia 800 that would sort out the battery issues on or about the 18th of this month.

Well according to the guys over at Phone Arena by way of Professeurthibault.fr, it appears that old Nokia has kept their word and is now rolling out the battery draining fix update, although apparently only in France at the moment.

Word is the update has made its way to almost all French wireless providers with the exception of SFR but word is SFR will gain the Nokia Lumia 800 update in a couple of days.

The firmware update will bring the Nokia Lumia 800 up to version 1600.2483.8106.11500 and is said to fix that battery problem along with delivering better wireless connectivity and numerous improvements to the Windows Phone.

Thus it would appear that if you have been experiencing the battery draining problem on your Nokia Lumia 800 handset, for those in France the problem should be sorted, however if you live elsewhere and are affected by the issue then for now it is a waiting game for Nokia to push out the update to your region.

So with that said we’d like to ask our readers if you own a Nokia Lumia 800, are you experiencing the battery drainage problem?

If you have enjoyed this Phones Review article feel free to add me to your circles on Google+ and I will of course add you back.

    My Lumia 800
    (1600.2483.8107.11501) problems include:-

    1. Moving tiles long distances on the home screen does not flow properly. You need to drop the tile first before continuing.
    2. Keyboard has intermittent delays causing the user to see the same character 2 or 3 times.
    3. Critical alarm goes off too early and minutes later the OS battery is no longer critical.
    4. Moving between songs there is a loud noise at zero volume and 1-30 levels. While playing a song, lock the phone and wait 5 seconds. Then unlock your phone and quickly move between songs, there is no noise for a few seconds and then it starts again.
    5. Sound quality is poor from the loud speaker, Bluetooth and audio jack.
    6. Nokia feedback within the settings tab has been limited to once only now. Nokia does not seem interested in customers providing ongoing feedback.
    7. The Nokia drive direction voice occasionally stutters, taking about a minute to complete one command.
    8. Video play back frames are missed on some videos. Audio keeps working.
    9. Battery does not charge to manufactures specification.
    10. Battery saver function is not working properly. On HTC HD7, Battery Saver (low) makes a big different.
    11. Camera quality is poor for a Nokia phone.
    12. Camera is set to macro by default.
    13. Video auto focus still needs more improvements.
    14. Low volume level is too high from audio jack. High volume level from the speaker is too low. Poor bass levels.

OS UI now flows smoother on the new firmware.

Seriously, this ‘update’ is worse than useless!! I now have worse battery than ever and I haven’t used it any differently (although I have actually listened to music less than I did previously). I now get maybe 16hours of battery when I got at least 2 days before this supposed battery extending update! There isn’t a way of going back is there?

Got the new update a few days ago and I must say the battery issue is actually worse, I used to get about 1.5 days now I get less about 14-16 and that is with next to no usage. Before the update max charge was supoposed to be over 1500 actual max was just over 1300. now max is about 1430. It is very dissapointing that such a nice phone is actually rendered useless by such an inferior battery/power management.

Updated my phone last night with latest Nokia update. Before update my Full charge capacity was 1516 mAh and would give a charge of about 1.5 days after update my full charge capacity is only 1425 mAh and give about 22 hours!!!!! What is going on here wish I hadnt have updated now.

I found this page because I was looking for people experiencing battery issues like me. It appears I already own the mentioned update and it did not fix it. I charded my battery, turned off location services, turned off wireless network, mail sync is every 1 hour for two accounts and tw o accounts sync when mail is received. I went to bed, battery was fully charged. 8 hours later, the battery was drained for 60%. This even worse than my iPhone 4, which would only drain 5% overnight, with more services turned on than on the Lumia. Very disappointed in the battery life of Nokia.

    Update on my experience.
It looks like it takes a while for this update to sort the phone out, the battery seems to get better after every charge which seems odd but when I check battery usage now it goes down to between 130 and 140 not the 180 to 200 I had immediately after the update. I would reccomend switching the phone off completly and when you switch it back on it gets better. I will keep monitoring and let you know what else I experience.

  11. Scott Lawn says:

I have downloaded the update and it’s killed my phone! The thing switches itself off, the only way to get it back on is plug the charger back in and wait 10 20 minutes to get enough juice in it to switch on, I’m really disappointed with Nokia, this phone is not ready for the market.

  12. Rod says:

My Phone was given as an update on my new contract, 2 weeks in it wont last all day even if its just on standy, then  it switches off –its taken over 3 hrs on charge before it will switch on again–battery status shows less than 2 thirds full even after overnight charging –Give me my old phone back this is useless for business

    Most of the problems
with Lumia 800 have been fixed with 1600.2487.8107.12070.

    Most
importantly – Headset audio is now better than most phones & battery drain
    problem is now fixed.

    Only known
    problems I have are:-

    1. Clicking noise
between songs is still audible (OS problem. HTC Radar has it too).

    2. Halogen down
lights red/orange spot in the centre of all pictures (my hardware?).

    3. Logging into
routers, the keyboard is sometime partly hidden by the DONE/CANCEL buttons (OS
    problem).

    Lumia 800 is
now 9.5 out of 10. Amazing Everyday! Thanks Nokia

Had a Nokia Lumia on contact from Orange on Saturday. Orange claimed to have sorted the problem before I got the phone so I assumed battery life would be fine. However, on Sunday, my battery was going down at double the rate of my boyfriends iphone and by 4pm it was at 20% despite me charging it overnight. Its Monday morning now, charged it overnight to 100% again, and its been off charge for 90 minutes and it’s already at 80%. It won’t last me until I finish work at the rate its going. Also, using social network apps drain battery, like you lose 5% for every minute you’re on there so I’ve had to remove all them. I’ve turned my emails off to save battery, my wifi, bluetooth. hardly seems worth having a windows phone if you can’t use the apps that you buy it for.

  17. Lisa says:

I have had my phone for 2 days and had to charge it 3 times already my old Nokia 5230 would go for days, also the ringer/message alert volume is absolutly dire for a phone in this price range £430 it will be beeing returned to the store tomorrow for a full refund under my ‘7 day peace of mind contract’

  18. michael angelo Cardoza says:

A full battery charge after 2 hours of waiting.. Some texting and pics viewing my battery life went into half and 1 hour of browsing it says your battery is critically low? Help

  19. jingajenga says:
