Sony ‘Crystal’ Tablet releasing February 18th?

To keep in with the big players in the world of portable technology, you really have to be on top of your game with your smartphone and have a tablet available. On the tablet side it looks very much like all the manufacturers are pushing the 3G options.

As one of the largest hitters in the carrier market, AT&T offers 3G tablets from Samsung, HTC and Acer, including others. According to Android Community, adding to their range is Sony, who previously only brought WiFi to the table in the form of its Tablet S and Tablet P.

Things are moving on now though with a leaked piece of information that suggests that the electronics superpower will be introducing a new slate code-named Crystal. So far tech-spec are slim on the ground, but it has been said that the new device will feature HSPA+ rather than 4G LTE. This may be a head scratcher as lower priced units still manage AT&T’s LTE data speeds.

Like we said more details are set to follow, but we can tell you that there is every possibility that the Crystal could just be a lightly dusted Tablet S. Pricing will fall around the $409.99 mark, and launch dates could be as early as the first quarter. This may be to coincide with Samsung’s Galaxy Note on February 18th. Whatever additional information we get will be passed on to you, so keep a look out.

Let us know if you think a new Sony tablet packing 3G could make a name for itself in such a busy market?
