Sony Xperia S at FCC & delay drama

As I am sure most are aware, when a new tech device is set to hit the good ole US of A it first has to undergo the usual tests to pass through the Federal Communication Commission (FCC), and the first smartphone to arrive without the Ericsson name, the Sony Xperia S has already been spotted at the FCC.

According to FCC docs, the Sony Xperia S looks like it will arrive with the correct bands for AT&T 3G along with a fast charging ability and anti-stain housing, but of course just because the Xperia S has AT&T frequencies doesn’t mean the handset is definitely headed for AT&T.

However with that said, there seems to be some kind of delay with the Sony Xperia S at least here in the United Kingdom as the smartphone was due launch yesterday by Play, but unfortunately didn’t surface according to the guys over at The Inquirer.

They contacted Play asking why the delay with launching the Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone, who claim that the supplier has not been able to meet the schedule and as such the Sony Xperia S is delayed until the 13th of February, but could be pushed back even further.

Other online retailers have also been giving the 30th Jan as the launch date however Clove says this is incorrect and expects the Xperia S to arrive on the 6th or 7th of March, whilst Ebuyer has an availability date of the 12th of March, whilst Carphone Warehouse and O2 have the device as arriving in March.
