Motorola Atrix 3 could take gloss off Galaxy S III & iPhone 5

The Motorola Atrix 3 smartphone has been leaked and if the specs are anywhere near accurate this is one handset that many people will be looking out for. In fact Samsung and Apple might want to take note as the Atrix 3 could take the gloss off the upcoming Galaxy S III (S3) and iPhone 5.

The original Atrix Android smartphone was launched by Motorola last year and gained a lot of attention as one of the first dual-core processor handsets. It was followed quietly by the Atrix 2 but the Atrix 3 looks set to make huge waves and will make plenty sit up and take notice. Here’s a look at what’s expected for the Atrix 3, according to leaks. First off it will have an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, a 4.3-inch HD display with resolution of 1280×720 and an impressive 2GB of RAM. Camera-wise we’re looking at 10megapixels with dual-LED flash and it will sport a whopping 3300mAh battery.

It’s appearance is very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus according to IntoMobile, sourced from Pocketnow, and something that will satisfy an awful lot of potential buyers is that it will be running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, as the Galaxy Nexus does. It remains to be seen of course, how much Motorola will impose itself upon ICS as whereas the Galaxy Nexus was a pure Google handset, the Atrix 3 is not. However a look through the first revealed specs and features reveals the Atrix 3 to be a hugely promising smartphone.

Over on Gotta Be Mobile the Atrix 3 is being described as “everything we loved about the Razr MAXX” with additions such as the faster processor and more. It’s also noted that the Razr MAXX has a similar sized battery to the 3300mAh that has been leaked for the Atrix 3 and that the MAXX achieves up to 38 hours of battery life, so that’s another good sign.

It’s not yet known when the Atrix 3 will be released but we’re hoping to find out more on that at MWC later this month. However we’re now wondering if this could be so popular that it could even overshadow the upcoming launches of the mighty Galaxy S III and iPhone 5. Of course these will both sell in huge numbers and some will always prefer Apple’s iOS as opposed to Android. However the Galaxy S III uses the same Android platform as the Atrix 3 will and so they will be in more direct competition with each other.

The Galaxy S III is also likely to be running Android 4.0 ICS and rumored specs have included a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 10 to 12-megapixel rear camera, 1.5 to 2GB of RAM, a 2250mAh battery and possibly a 1.8GHz quad-core processor so there could be very little to choose between the Galaxy S III and the Atrix 3. An event is being held in March to reveal the Galaxy S III so hopefully a release will be with us by early summer at the latest. Meanwhile the iPhone 5 is also being speculated to include a quad-core processor and possibly LTE connectivity although as usual with Apple products it’s all a closely guarded secret. It’s possible that the iPhone 5 will be launched in June.

It certainly seems as though from what we know so far the Atrix 3 could give the Galaxy S III and the iPhone 5 a run for their money, as well as many of the other quad-core devices rumored to be on the way. We’ll be listening out for more news on the Motorola Atrix 3 from Mobile World Congress and you can be sure we’ll keep you informed. What are your thoughts on the Atrix 3? If these specs turn out to be the real deal might you make this your next smartphone? Let us know with your comments.

But apple has never showed advanced stuff, just make pretty design and heavy marketing.
Spec wise they never will catch up against others. Galaxy note win!

        1. Trob6969 says:

Are you aware that the galaxy note has the SAME specs as the htc rezound except for screen size? But the rezound has a higher ppi count. In fact, the rezound is the ONLY phone on the market that has a higher pixel density than iphone 4s; even though it has a 4.3″ display!

You ANDROID clowns are complete idiots!  You harp on specs but what good are they when you have to turn off the features and live next to a wall charger to keep the phone running past 2 hours?  Dumb geeky idiots!

Yea, brag about 4G LTE but being first generation, your battery last a whole hour or 2 if 4G is left on!  Yea, that’s a WONDERFUL experience!  So you can brag about having it but you have to turn it off to EXPERIENCE your phone.  Meanwhile, I’ll be enjoying 2 days battery life with my iPhone 4S.

Large screen?  Who cares?  I had the EVO 4G and EVO 3D and after switching to the iPhone 4S I don’t miss it.  iPhone 4S fits comfortable in my hand and RETINA is fantastic.  Meanwhile, you Android fools will be lower brightness and turning off live wallpapers just to get an extra hour of battery life.

Replaceable battery?  Who cares? I get 2 days longevity with my iPhone 4S.  I don’t need to tamper with it.  You Android FOOLS need to replace the battery because ANDROID PHONES BATTERY LIFE IS HORRIBLE.  You can buy a 3500mah battery for some phones but if you like carrying a BRICK, more power to you.  Not a great EXPERIENCE!

Lastly, some phone will get Android 4.0 and some won’t.  How lovely!  Enjoy spending $200 plus every year to get the latest UNPOLISHED OS.  Oh and APP STORE that GOOGLE has is a JOKE!  Great quality apps are few and far in between while I’m rocking Final Fantasy and Grand Theft Auto on the iPhone.

ANDROID sucks!  Deal with it!  You aren’t getting paid by GOOGLE so stop lying to yourselves and everyone else.  Just because you cant afford to get an iPhone don’t hate on people that can!

          2. Mike_sang2 says:

lol apple fanboi.. trying to protect his life and his apple product… trying to stir up hate. who says no one can afford an iphone they give those things at $0 dollars with contracts now. U believe you have a great product, but what makes it great? the fact that u were told it was and was sold on the whole revolution that apple was the best product. no sir unfortunately u were schemed from great marketing done by apple. Of course specs count, why do u think apple wants to keep suing other companies that are coming out with better products, its so they can implement that technology and then be the first ones to say that it is theirs and market it to you saying this is the brand new “iphone” when really all they did was take great technology and specs and that are currently out there. stop hating and learn to appreciate the fact the androids are making the biggest dent in apple because they are coming out with low-end and high end devices that everyone can use.. your argument is really useless. specs don’t count. lol… oh yeah apple is ditching RETINA… for their new phone to compete with the beautiful displays on android… just saying…

          3. Belgian Hare Rabbit says:

Chink in the armor.  Here we go with your useless ramble.  Your entire argument was assumption, rumor or make believe.  Sit down and shut up.  Grown folks are talking here!

          4. Mrbig012 says:

I don’t know what you guys are talking about.  Have you ever USED a Galaxy Nexus or Rezound or even the RAZR?  4g is FAST (30 mb downlink AVERAGE, 18mb up) in every area I go with LTE.  Screen is amazing.  AMOLED = much longer battery life.  NFC is awesome, there are SO many discounts on it RIGHT NOW (google it)  4G LTE is not a gimmick, you flaming homo rabbits.

          5. Sinizterbones says:

what BS you don’t even know what you are talking about android is about options, specs are important, but options is where it’s at. Iphone users in general never question anything or you would realize Steve Jobs  ran Apple like a Nazi, that is why windows has so many software writers, just like android so there is many different ways to have your equipment set up and run. with Apple and I(insert here) are closed off even if jailbroken. So please tell me again why Apple or Iphone etc… is so cool!

    1. Trob6969 says:

Yeah the phone seems awsome and so does the samsung s3 BUT htc has a phone that completely smashes BOTH and probably any other to come out in the near future. Its called the ‘orion’ and it has a 4.5″ 1080p FULL HD display, 12meg rear cam, 5meg front cam, 2gb ddr2 ram, and its thin! Google ‘htc orion’ and see for yourself. This doesn’t really surprise me though, considering htc is usually the first to bring new smartphone tech to market.

        1. JACK RABBIT says:

NFC isn’t even usable right now IDIOT!  ITS JUST MARKETING SPEAK THAT YOU FELL FOR!  Oooooooh, I need NFC right now even though nothing is using it!

  1. Phat Rabbit says:

    Merle,

You are the typical clueless geek whom think your comments matter.  News Flash:  They Don’t!  The iPhone is the phone to get period.  It’s not about specs, its the experience.  As soon as you and the rival companies figure this out then we may have a true iPhone killer.  Until then, shut up!

    1. Mystnessellar says:

go go apple fanboi. if you keep repeating it to yourself maybe you will wish it true – not. in any case, your god jobs is dead and decomposing, and the world is better for it. apple gains 75% of profit from the smartphone market, while making only 25% of sales, wile the other companies make smaller margin. Lower producer margin -> bigger consumer margin. So, who provides more value?

    2. Trob6969 says:

Lol! No, YOU don’t get it! It IS about specs: powerful processor means BETTER performance, large screen means more enjoyable video/game play, bigger battery means longer interaction with the phone. So tell me specifically why you think hardware specs “don’t matter” when it comes to user experience. C’mon now! Iphone HAS been killed from a capability and functionality standpoint, ever since the original motorola droid came out! The iphone continues to sell ONLY because their sells are driven by a legion of consumer ‘zombies’ who either buys it because they’re uninformed or they see it as being the ‘fashion’ phone!

      1. JACK RABBIT says:

Yea, you are a TOOL!  Companies that don’t get it and DON’T have great market share USE SPECS to lure the geeks.  The AVERAGE DUMB GEEK, thinks that an QUAD CORE phone blows away a DUAL CORE phone and they are right except they forget one thing.  The OS and the apps have to be DESIGNED to take advantage of it otherwise its just SPECS.  The dual core iPhone 4S or a regular iPhone 4 can and does hang or beat any Android phone out right now.

4G LTE is a gimmick right now.   I live in a 4G city and riding around the city 4G coverage is spotty at best.  When you actually get it you are more surprised then anything else.  It didn’t really matter anyways, because most of the places I was at I just hopped on WIFI, so again 4G is just for marketing.  You turn it off anyway to save your battery so it doesn’t die in 2 hours. Large Screen drains your battery also.  If I wanted one, I would buy an iPad.

Android is weak and the manufacturers are using bleeding edge specs to differentiate themselves but bleeding edge tech doesn’t make for a USEFUL or WONDERFUL experience.

Now go ahead and lie about how you get great battery life on your ANDROID phone.  LMAO!  Go ahead, I’ll wait!

        1. Ncydout says:

LoL, you mean its a “gimmick” until Apple slaps it in one of their devices. Then suddenly, its an example of the wonderful genius and superior quality that is Apple

BTW my “gimmick” 4G LTE Galaxy Nexus outperforms your home/public WiFi speeds with regularity.

You’re a typical iUSER, a logo expert spouting out hand-me-down knowledge passed on to you by other members of your trend-whore cult. The sad truth of it is that your technically ignorant, like most iUSERS, you assume that logo recognition and a higher price must mean a better product. There’s a saying about assumptions, and I’d say it fits you so accurately that it should be mandatory you have the word tattooed on your fore-heard.

          1. Bunny Rabbit says:

Dumb response you came up with.  You have no proof to back your claims up and you only picked 4G out of my entire article to whine about.  Typical android idiot.

          2. Ncydout says:

No I picked one part of your statement that proved on the whole, you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.

If you’re going to support a company or product enough to surf the interweb looking for a fight, at least do that company the courtesy of researching the details. Rather than basing your arguments on biased rumors. You just further feed the impressions of Apple users being techno ignorant trendy hipster cultists with too much $ and not enough sense.

    3. Anonymous says:

did you think that anyone around here was actually going to agree with you? the only people who think its about “experience” are the people who buy things based off who has the best commercial. everyone else, though, likes to get what they pay for, and if the iphone 5 ends up being dual core, like they’re saying, theres no way i would pay for it.

    1. JACK RABBIT says:

Yea, enjoy carrying that PHONE BOOK around.  I can get a iPAD if I wanted something with a big screen.

Obviously you are a small person lacking confidence so you need a BIG phone to make up for it.  IDIOT!  Go brag about having the largest phone that can’t fit comfortably in your pocket, meanwhile the next idiot will say he has a 6.3″ phone 2 months from now.

Did I mention how the developers will be disengaged in bringing quality apps over with all the fragmentation?  LMAO!  CLOWNS!

      1.  Ooooohhh I sense a fanboy who is upset. Fragmentation and app quality? Seriously? Name 1 app that runs on froyo that does not run on GB or ICS? I can name about 50 that I try to download from the Apple app store that say Requires IOS 4+ or IOS 5+ when I am running IOS 3+. So you think Apples IOS is not fragmented?

5.3 is a beast. I thought 4.56 was a beast until 4.65 dropped. Wait let me rephrase that. I thought 3.5 was big until I got 4.3 LOL. Now when IOS comes on a 4.0 device you will gawk at it wont you little rabbit? 4.3 is small these days face it 3.5 is bite size. To ad insult to injury Samsung is releasing a Galaxy Mini at 3.3 inches.

        Enjoy your little phone.

          1. Fori shii says:

Dual-core 1 Ghz processor, 8-megapixel camera, thin design, good quality screen, and a sometimes good, most times bad quality with your network (depending on the network).

Sounds like a phone you could be interested in?

  2. Don says:

And once again, what drives me away from the iPhone is the people who stir up hype about it. As a couple people explained, specs DOES count on a phone because it lets you know what you’re paying for.

I rule my decision on hardware first.. will it handle me? (I tend to take multitasking to a different level) and with the new devices from Android sporting quad-core processors and 2 GB RAM, it probably could. Internal memory/SD compatibility is next, Will I need the SD card to add space on my phone, or can the device last me a long time? (I love high quality pictures, music, and videos, but they eat space faster than a frog can catch a fly). Camera quality has to be perfect quality at all times for those moments when my camera isn’t close enough (Flash is needed, not optional). Screen size matters to me. A 4.5 inch display suits me just fine, not too big, not too small – but it has to have a really detailed and full of life (great for videos, games, pictures, etc). Next is sound, and I love to hear music in crisp and clear quality without the use of an equalizer (though that would be nice for a stock music app, just saying). After going through the specs of the phones I’m interested in, then I go for user interface. I’m going to be stuck with it, so will I be able to choose the one that gives me the best experience to my taste, I want something to customize it to my liking, I hate being limited. Last thing, the price. If I’m paying too much for a device when there is a similar or better device, but cheaper.. guess which one I’m going for?

I grew up around technology almost my whole life, so it’s gotten really hard to convince me what’s best on that subject. Most devices look interesting, but if certain things about them doesn’t suit my taste, I move on. So it annoys me a great deal when I ask, what’s so good about the iPhone and I get replies like, “It’s the best phone ever”, “It’s a great phone”, “It’s what a phone should be”, and the oldest one in the book.. “It has great apps”. When I look to buy a phone, I make my decision on what I’m paying for, not for what commercials or other people say. So when I ask a question on a phone, don’t give me a bullshit answer about it, pardon my language, give me what I want to hear.. the truth. Then I’ll decide on the phone from my research I did myself, and knowing I’ll be happy with it until it’s time to upgrade to a better device later in life.

Ooops, Forgot battery life and durability. It also has to last a long time since I tend to be a heavy user. (Heavy multitasking caught to to me couple times on the battery life)
And since I’m clumsy sometimes, it should be able to take a beating. (Drops, water damage.. not that I’ll be near it but nice to know I’m covered, and other things that my previous phones lived though)

This is the way I feel about it, if iphone 4s is going to run me 700-900 possibly 1k then it better be FAR BEYOND the competition PERIOD! I been doing research on phones for a while now and so far THE  PHONE WITH THE BEST SPECS I HAVE HONESTLY RUN ACROSS IS SONY’S XPERIA S…NEXT TO IT WOULD BE HTC’S ONE X. These two phones are CHEAPER and or IF not The same price now as APPLES Iphone 4s AND ARE FAR BETTER!! ONCE AGAIN if I am going to surpass the $500 mark on buying a phone IT BETTER HAVE TOP NOTCH SPECS/PERFORMANCES…one last phone I honestly like other than the phone mentioned in this article is Samsungs Galaxy Nexus and yes I have reasearched this phone it does measure up to what they make it out to be UNLIKE APPLE IPHONE 4s…Now to every Apple fan I want to say that the phone may suit you and this may be because you are unaware of other powerful phones for better prices, I mean if someone where to honestly show you the difference of POWER AND PERFORMANCE AS WELL AS PRICE!!
