New LG Cayman & Droid Fighter phones for Verizon

There are countless new smartphones being unveiled and announced right now and now we have heard of another couple of upcoming phones heading to Verizon, the LG Cayman and the DROID Fighter.

According to what looks like a leaked Verizon device workshop list both of these handsets may be released shortly. The LG Cayman is shown with a date of March 29 while the DROID Fighter date on the document is April 12. However these are not thought to be release dates but if these are workshop dates it makes sense to think they will not be released too long afterwards. Indeed as Droid-Life points out we shouldn’t rule these out as release dates as Verizon usually release new phones on a Thursday and lo and behold, both of these dates are Thursdays.

There’s not a huge amount available to tell you yet but two weeks ago we told readers about a mystery smartphone from HTC that could be called the HTC Droid Incredible 3 or HTC Fireball. Droid-Life actually speculates that he DROID Fighter could in fact be the HTC Fireball but at present there’s no way of knowing if the DROID Fighter is manufactured by Samsung, Motorola or HTC. When we informed about the Fireball some leaked specs included a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and an 8-megapixel rear camera and it also looked as though it would be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

It’s also suggested that the LG Cayman is more likely to be a low-end model as the Spectrum has only just been released but that is purely conjecture and not to be taken as read just yet. Certainly we think our readers may be more intrigued by the DROID Fighter but we’ll be keeping our ears and eyes peeled in a bid to bring you more news on both of these smartphones that are heading to the Big Red. Let us know what you think about this latest smartphone leak. Does the sheer choice of smartphones coming out baffle you or do you appreciate the fact that there’s so much to choose from?
