Implication of Galaxy S3 April Release Date

The Samsung Galaxy S3 (or S III) is one of the smartphones that is most highly anticipated this year and along with rumored specifications one of the things most frequently questioned is a launch time for the flagship Samsung phone. We now have news that gives an implication of an April release date for the Galaxy S3 and if accurate this would please an awful lot of people.

The Galaxy S3 is already assured of success following the phenomenal sales of its predecessor, the Galaxy S2 and we had already informed readers about a Samsung event in March where it is likely to be unveiled. It was widely expected to release in spring or summer and a timing to coincide with the London 2012 Olympics beginning in July had been speculated. The news that it may in fact be released so much sooner is certain to make many of us happy this weekend, although we have to stress that right now this news is not official.

According to BGR though, the news comes from ZDNet Asia who “claim to have confirmed” an April release date for the Galaxy S3 with Samsung’s marketing and advertising agency Cheil Worldwide. We had previously been informed that the phone would release simultaneously in more than 50 cities or markets this time around as Samsung was keen to avoid the saga of the Galaxy S2 last year, when U.S. customers finally saw a release far later than those in other regions.

Now however, BGR reports that the U.K. will be one of the first launch markets although we’re not sure where that sits with the previous idea of a simultaneous launch in so many regions. Either it will mean that it will also release in the U.S. and other major markets in the same April timeframe, or alternatively the previous reports of a simultaneous release this time were inaccurate. Apparently Samsung’s major marketing campaign for the Galaxy S3 will be focused on the Olympics.

The so called ‘confirmed’ April release for the Galaxy S3 was also spoken of earlier by industry insider Eldar Murtazin so this latest information reinforces that and we should point out that Murtazin has a good track record of providing reliable information. Anticipated specs for the Galaxy S3 include a 1.5GHz quad-core Exynos processor, 4.8-inch HD display, 8-megapixel or more rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, LTE connectivity and the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

Interestingly the fact that Samsung has opted to reveal the Galaxy S3 at a unique press event instead of at MWC in Barcelona is similar to the way that Apple works with launches of its products. With the event this month, if it does actually release in April that would also seem to be very close to Apple’s pattern of actually releasing a new device very shortly after its announcement. With the iPhone 5 likely to be the main contender to the Galaxy S3 a launch as soon as possible for the S3 would be sensible to give it a head start. The iPhone 5 is not expected until June at the earliest but more likely in the fall.

Are you one of the many people hanging out to find out what the Galaxy S3 will have to offer? Which anticipated feature do you most hope will come to fruition? Have you already made up your mind that the Galaxy S3 will be your next smartphone choice?

The S3 will definitely be my next device when I upgrade in July. Wish I could read an article about it without mention of iPhone, though!

I will go for a Galaxy S3 , and definitely buy full price.
I also happy and welcome Samsung’s own Exynos Quad Core Processor.
It has a good marketing strategy in near future.
