Gingerbread Galaxy Pocket announced by Samsung

It seems you can depend on good old Samsung to continue pushing out new Android devices to their Galaxy line, and the latest smartphone addition to that Galaxy line is the Samsung Galaxy Pocket, a rather small handset weighing in at only 97 grams and 11.98mm in thickness.

According to the guys over at Ubergizmo, Samsung Tomorrow has now officially announced the Samsung Galaxy Pocket handset, a device that is somewhat smaller than the very popular Samsung flagship device the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Spec wise the Samsung Galaxy Pocket offers a rather small 2.8-inch QVGA touch screen along with a 2 megapixel rear facing fixed focus camera, 3GB internal storage, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, Samsung TouchWiz UI, an 832MHz processor, runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and has microSD expansion up to 32GB.

The Samsung Galaxy Pocket measures 103.7 x 57.5 x 11.98mm, and has a 1200mAh battery, and will initially be available sometime this month in Italy and then rolled out across Europe, Latin America, CIS, the Middle East, Africa, China, and Southeast and Southwest Asia.

Of course at this time there is no word on just how much the Samsung Galaxy Pocket will command price wise, other than that there’s not much else known about this latest handset from Samsung, but when we hear more on that pricing we will of course pass it along.
