Warning: Upgrade Motorola Xoom now for 4G LTE

If you’re a Motorola Xoom tablet owner using 3G and haven’t yet received your free update to 4G LTE connectivity then you should listen up. The time limit for the free update is almost up so if you still want to upgrade your device you need to hurry.

It was way back last September when Motorola finally started upgrading the Xoom to 4G LTE after previously saying it would happen much earlier. However, the upgrade involved Xoom owners sending in their tablets and being without them for around a week, a factor that may have been why some owners have not yet upgraded.

It’s definitely worthwhile doing though but the Motorola website dealing with the free LTE upgrades is closing shop on March 31. However Motorola will still upgrade your Xoom as long as it reaches them by April 11. Phone Arena details some things you need to do before sending off your Motorola Xoom for the update. You should transfer your content, back up your Google account, delete or encrypt your Xoom data and then finally you need to package it up and ship it to Motorola.

On the arrival of your device at Motorola you’ll be sent an email with a link so that you can track your Xoom 4G’s return journey. Phones Arena has a very useful gallery at the link above with comprehensive details for each of the above steps. You’ll also need this Motorola link for the required paperwork for receiving your free upgrade where you’ll need to qualify your unit for the upgrade. On the Motorola site you’ll also find sections on the benefits of upgrading to 4G LTE, FAQ’s and a Getting Ready Guide, in case you have any further questions.

We’ve also embedded a useful video that you can see below this story which goes through the returns process for the LTE upgrade step-by-step. Have you still not updated your Motorola Xoom? Will you be sending it in by the deadline or not bothering? If you upgraded yours already, did you feel it was worth it?
