List of 14 Verizon devices getting Android ICS 4.0 update

Many people have been waiting to find out when the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for their smartphones and tablets will become available. We have good news today if you’re a Verizon Wireless customer as the giant carrier has now released a list of devices that the ICS will be coming to.

Since the Samsung Galaxy Nexus arrived at the end of last year featuring the newest Android mobile operating system (showing just what the latest Android OS had to offer), many people have been clamoring to know when they can get the update. Some devices owners have already been fortunate enough to update to ICS but more people will be pleased today.

The Verizon ICS update list contains 14 devices, either smartphones currently running Android 2.x Gingerbread, or tablets running Android 3.x Honeycomb. The devices on the list are —

HTC Thunderbolt, Droid Incredible 2, Rhyme & Rezound. LG Spectrum. Motorola Droid Bionic, Droid Razr, Droid Razr Maxx, Droid 4, Xoom, Droid Xyboard 8.2 and Droid Xyboard 10.1. Also included is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 7.7.

Details courtesy of Mobile Burn. Don’t panic if you’re device doesn’t yet appear on the list as Verizon says it will be adding to the list over time. As Verizon is not actually developing the updates and that is down to the manufacturers, the Big Red hasn’t been able to supply information on when the updates will begin to roll out but hopefully it won’t be too much longer until these device owners can begin to enjoy the benefits of ICS and the improved browsing experience, multitasking and notifications.

If you want to find out more about what Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will bring to your device then check out the ten-minute video we’ve embedded below this story that shows some of the highlights of the new OS. Are you waiting to receive the ICS update for your device? Maybe you’re already using ICS and could let our readers know what you think of it?

Maybe now Verizon (and Google) will offer the ICS update they promised to Galaxy Nexus owners who are waiting for a fix to the often terrible battery life he phone has.
