HTC updates Android ICS roadmap

Only yesterday we had the news that some owners of the Samsung Galaxy S2 were beginning to receive the latest Android operating system on their handsets. Despite releasing last year it seems to be taking a long time before companies are updating their hardware, but today we have the news that HTC has updated its Android ICS roadmap.

Only last month the company announced a rollout schedule for its devices, and has now taken to its official Blog to provide details of the software upgrade and has added more handsets to the list. We already know that the Sensation range is the first in line to receive the new software, and the company confirmed that they are already in the early stages of rolling this out to the HTC Sensation and Sensation XE, and it will become more widely available in the coming weeks. It was also promised that the HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XL will follow shortly after.

The company has now listed a total of sixteen devices that have been confirmed to be receiving the Android upgrade soon, which includes the likes of the HTC Raider, HTC Rezound, HTC Rhyme, HTC Thunderbolt, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G, HTC Incredible S, and the Desire S and Desire HD. This adds to the Sensation range that has already been promised to be updated by the manufacturer.

HTC did mention that once they start releasing the updates it will take a while for the individual carriers in each country to receive it, but they are working with carriers to reveal update schedules for other HTC devices and will reveal more soon. While HTC didn’t give any actual time scale for the rollout of the software upgrade, at least owners of the handsets on the list now know they will eventually be getting it.

Do you own one of the handsets listed by HTC?
