Sony Xperia S now shipping around the world

I’m sure everyone knows that the latest much sought after Android smartphone out of the Sony camp is the Sony Xperia S handset, a mobile phone that comes with PlayStation certification for playing PlayStation games, and currently being offered in the United Kingdom via Three UK and Orange UK and the white model exclusive to Phones 4 U.

Well the guys over at Sony Mobile have now announced that the Sony Xperia S handsets is shipping globally, although they will leave it up to local operators to let their customers know the specifics on availability and pricing for the Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone.

So if you happen to be in the market for the Sony Xperia S you should be able to pick it up reasonably soon no matter where you are in the world, and for those that just might have forgotten, the specs for the Xperia S are…

A 4.3-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touch screen with scratch resistant glass, a 12 megapixel auto-focus rear facing camera with LED flash, 1080p video, a 1.3 megapixel front facing 720p camera, a 1.5GHz dual core processor, Sony Mobile Bravia Engine, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, 1GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, NFC functionality, A-GPS with GLONASS and a 3.5mm jack.

The Sony Xperia S handset comes running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but will be upgraded to Android ice Cream Sandwich at some point hopefully in the not too distant future.
