Got Samsung Galaxy Note (GT-N7000) Android 2.3.6 update yet?

There are many owners of high end Android smartphones that are not that old who are still waiting to receive the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update for their devices. Many owners of Samsung handsets are among these with recent news focussing on the situation with the Galaxy S2, but now we can tell you about the Android 2.3.6 update for the Samsung Galaxy Note (GT-N7000).

While it may not be that elusive Android ICS upgrade but another Gingerbread update has been released, build XXLC1, which according to the Android Community is the latest version of the Android 2.3.6 firmware available for the Galaxy Note.

It may not be as good as Ice Cream Sandwich but it will provide something for you to play around with while you wait, and it has to be remembered it s only compatible for the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000. To check you have the right version of the handset first you have to go to settings and hit the option ‘About phone’.

Before you can carry out the update there are a number of things you will need such as a Windows PC, and it has to be remembered the procedure will delete all the data stored on your handset so make sure you back this up before you start.

Samsung’s KIES application will probably try and interrupt the installation so this will need to be uninstalled first, along with temporarily disabling any antivirus and security suites you have installed on your PC. It has to be remembered that downloading the software is done at your own risk, and for the full detailed instructions hit the link above.

Do you already have the software installed on your Samsung Galaxy Note, and if so what do you think of it?

Quite a few things wrong in this article…
    1. You don’t need a windows PC – it’s all done wirelessly.
    2. It doesn’t delete any data on your handset.
    3. KIES doesn’t interrupt it – you don’t need to uninstall it.

As for what it looks like… seems exactly the same…

i also refute your uninformed comment about data loss .Furthermore check your facts about update procedures.Galaxy note is not compatible with Keis.Updates are done wirelessly through the inbuilt updater seamlessly and without any backup required.

  4. I’ve had this update forced upon me because I had the phone repaired – and it was installed as well… I got my phone back and the S Note application has disappeared! I used to use that app a lot and I’m really stuck without it… Can anyone help? Also – the battery percentage in the notification bar, the ability to clear recent apps, and the phone sound defaultly going ‘No sound & no vibrate – just vibrate – sound’ have all gone. Now I have to fiddle around with settings to deal with my sound and have had to use memory space downloading a battery percentage app…
Please let me know if this is all just me, or other people have had the same problems?
