Old Sammy originally said the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update would hit the Samsung Galaxy S smartphone at some point in the future; however, Samsung had to retract that statement when they realised that the Galaxy S couldn’t actually run the latest Android operating system. Sammy then decided the best way to get the ICS experience on the Galaxy S was to deliver it in the form of a Samsung Galaxy S value pack.

Now according to the guys over at GSMarena, by way of Samsung.com (translated), old Sammy has now begun rolling out the value pack to Samsung Galaxy S users in Korea, although there’s no word on whether the value pack will be rolled out to other regions in future.

The Samsung Galaxy S value pack is basically the Android Gingerbread operating system mixed with certain features from Android Ice Cream Sandwich, which include face unlock, the ability to create folders in the launcher, the ability to take images when video recording, an image editor and more.

The strange thing is, according to the guys, is that although the Samsung Galaxy S can’t run Android Ice Cream Sandwich, the Samsung Nexus S, which has the same basic hardware can.

Anyway, as of right now those Samsung Galaxy S owners in Korea at least will be gaining the Gingerbread/ICS mix value pack, anyone else hoping Samsung will push out the value pack for the Galaxy S anywhere else in the world?
