Nexus S 4G Android ICS 4.0 IMM76D ROM update

The ongoing Android Ice Cream Sandwich update saga has left owners of many worthy handsets left wandering when they will finally be seeing the new software. We recently told you that owners of the Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX may be shortly be enjoying the new operating system, and today we have news on the Nexus S 4G Android ICS 4.0 IMM76D ROM update.

There has been rumoured dates for the Android update hitting the Nexus S 4G for a while now, and it now seems that the official image files have emerged. Brief Mobile have been provided with the leaked files via a source, and it contains an updated signed_radio.img, recovery.img, system.img, userdata.img, boot.img, and bootloader.img, which means this is the full official IMM76D Android 4.0 due to arrive on the Nexus S 4G via an over the air update soon.

Currently nothing official has been announced with regards to a release date yet for Ice Cream Sandwich on the Nexus S 4G, but the GSM Nexus S was given the new operating system a few days ago now. The Sprint Nexus S 4G is the last officially supported Nexus handset not to be treated to Android ICS, but this is because it will need WiMax support with the update.

The site is also offering a step by step guide for users to install the software onto their phone, but it has to be remembered this is only done at your own risk and if you are confident in doing a process such as this. Users are being warned it wipes the handsets completely so important data must be backed up first, but the software has been tested and is working correctly. If you fancy giving it a try yourself hit the link above and follow the instructions.
