May release for 17.6 hour battery life Motorola Razr Maxx

Last year Motorola launched the new RAZR smartphone, which was quickly followed to some user’s dismay by the RAZR MAXX, and now it has been revealed by the company that the device with the 17.6 hours of talk time will be released in the UK and Europe in May.

The handset is ideal for those wanting to get more battery life out of their smartphone and according to Pocket-lint the device will also be arriving in the Middle East in May as well. The handset was originally launched as a 4G smartphone in the US, but this version will just be a 3G capable handset.

It will still have the same form factor of the original Motorola RAZR released last October but with the extra boost the larger battery gives, and only adds a couple of mm to the thickness of the smartphone.

The thickness of the RAZR MAXX is boosted to only 8.99 mm compared to the original RAZR that is 7.1mm thick. The company hasn’t yet confirmed that the battery will have the same a 3300 mAh capacity like the Verizon Wireless model that is available in the US.

Motorola are claiming though that the RAZR MAXX when it arrives will provide users with 17.6 hours of talk time, which compares to the original RAZR of 10 hours. Besides the boosted battery the handset comes with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced screen with a resolution of 960 x 540, and an eight megapixel shooter on the back.

The device is powered by a respectable 1.2 GHz dual core processor and has 1GB of RAM, and while it may not be up there with some of the latest quad core smartphones it is still pretty impressive. The RAZR MAXX also features a microSD card slot that is increasingly becoming a rarity these days.

There is no word on what operating system the device will come running, but as current versions of the device are due to be upgraded to Android Ice Cream Sandwich soon you would have thought it will have Android 4.0 straight out of the box. We have reported before how users in the US can upgrade their RAZR handset to a RAZR MAXX thanks to a third-party expansion kit, but consumers in Europe will soon be able to pick up the handset for real soon.

Will you be getting the Motorola RAZR MAXX?
