Football Manager Handheld 2012 to score on Android

In recent weeks we have seen a couple of hugely popular applications available on the iOS platform make the leap over to Android in the form of Temple Run and Instagram, and today we have news that Football Manager Handheld 2012 will be scoring on Android next week.

It has been announced that the popular football coaching game will be released on the platform on April 11th according to an article on Pocket lint. This news comes after Miles Jacobson of Sports Interactive said last year in October that the company had no plans to launch an Android version due to the platforms fragmentation.

He said at the time that because of the many versions of Android available it was difficult to make sure the game would work correctly across the board, and added that they wanted to do an Android version because a few of the team owned Android handsets, but were “sticking to iOS for now”.

Now though it looks like the fragmentation problems have been fixed and the game will be available next week on Google Play for £6.99 with Jacobson confirming the news. The Android version will be almost identical to the iOS version, and will feature playable leagues in twelve countries that include Australia, Belgium, Brazil, England, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, and Wales.

Also present in the Android version will be the Challenge mode that offers players short term goals, and as can be expected the career mode will be feature packed. The game will have all the latest updated player lists after the recent transfer window, and will work on devices running Android 2.2 or later with all compatible devices being listed once the game is released.

Have you been waiting for Football Manager Handheld to arrive on Android?

Thanks for posting the article – much appreciated 😀

If anyone has questions about the forthcoming game, let me know as I’ll pop back here sporadically and answer any which are left.

    Hope this helps,

It’s running 2.3.5. Will all phones running android 2.2 work or will it only be tegra and dual core phones? I would love to play this on my htc desire hd. The description I keep reading is it will run in Android running 2.2 but will provide compatible handsets on the play market. I am not sur how to understand this. If a phone is running 2.2, but is only a single core handset, will it work?

What store are you viewing through? (only country I know offhand we don’t sell through is Germany for legal reasons).

Apart from that you need a device with Android 2.2 and a resolution of 480×320 or above … I think only the “mini” Xperia’s are below that … is yours one of those?
