iPhone 4S vs HTC One X: Enter the journey

The Apple iPhone 4S has taken on all-comers since its release but the HTC One X is definitely a new smartphone that could be a rival. Therefore we thought it was time to take a look at the iPhone 4S vs. the HTC One X and compare what the two smartphones have to offer on our journey.

We’ve posted plenty now about both the iPhone 4S and the HTC One X, a quad-core processor smartphone (dual-core for the U.S.) that has a lot of people very excited. The iPhone 4S released globally beginning in October last year while the HTC One X has only just been released in some regions and is due shortly in the U.S. Many will assume that the HTC One X will be more impressive as it’s a much more recent handset and that is correct on some scores but the iPhone offers a completely different experience and people’s individual desires and requirements always differ.

We’re now going to look at some of the key features and specs for the iPhone 4S and HTC One X, as detailed here, in a bid to help you decide which you might opt for if you’re looking for a new smartphone. For some of you it might simply be an easy decision between the Android or iOS platform as both offer the latest of each type. The iPhone 4S runs on iOS 5.1 while the HTC One X uses Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC Sense 4.0. For those who are still open to either platform we’ll take a look at further details.

The iPhone 4S has Apple’s A5 dual-core processor, a 3.5-inch Retina Display with resolution of 960×640 and an 8-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and 1080p HD video capture and front-facing VGA camera, Bluetooth 4.0 and built-in lithium-ion battery. Dimensions are 115.2mm x 58.6m x 9.3mm and it weighs 140g. It also features Siri voice assistant and comes in 16, 32 or 64GB storage options.

The HTC One X on the other hand has an NVIDIA Tegra 3 1.5GHz quad-core processor or in the U.S. features the Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz dual-core processor and LTE connectivity. It also has a 4.7-inch Super LCD display with resolution of 720×1280, 1GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, 8-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and 1080p HD video recording. There’s also a 1.3-megapixel front-facer, non-removable 1800mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC support. Dimensions are 134.36mm x 69.9mm x 8.9mm and it weighs 130g and this smartphone also offers integrated Beats Audio.

If we concentrate on displays both are excellent and although the resolution of the iPhone 4S is lower than that of the HTC One X the pixel density is higher at 326ppi against the One X’s 312ppi. The difference in size is also noticeable as the HTC One X is much longer and wider than the iPhone 4S but is the slimmer device. Despite the size difference and the much larger display of the One X it still weighs in lighter than the iPhone 4S.

For those of you then who prefer a smaller display rather than a large one the iPhone 4S is the obvious choice but of course many also enjoy the larger screens that are the trend right now. It could simply come down to how big your hands are as to which feels best for you. As for the other specs and features as we pointed out previously the HTC One X is bound to win out on some of these aspects simply because it is brand new. It will certainly be interesting then to see what the iPhone 5 has to offer when it arrives in the summer or fall although whether you can wait that long is of course down to you.

If you had to opt for either the iPhone 4S or HTC One X right now, which would you choose and why? Maybe you’ve decided to wait and see what the iPhone 5 brings when it is finally unveiled before making a decision? Let us know by sending your comments.

agree. had htc and samsung galaxy. now with iphone 4gs. so far iphone is the best one. smooth and silky work, no lags, no crashes and force closing. you just dont need android’s customization. its all marketing bullshit.

  1. I’ve just got the HTC and I’m completely blown away, It’s absolutely phi nominal, I can’t find any fault with it what so ever I’m ecstatic with my newest purchase! Thank-you HTC! The children Love it too for the games, it’s excellent 🙂

Eh why don’t u take a look at the facts. First off, P.C. killed Steve jobs. and the fact is that the android devices are better in sheer volume of abilities. Android isn’t controlled by the limited and expensive rules and regulations of the iPhone and itunes experience. Whether the hardware is better or not, the android system experience is just better

I’m still waiting for iPhone 5. Well if it gonna hv
Small screen then my obvious choice ll b HTC
One X. I m iPhone user since 3 years but
Apple just made people fool by releasing 4s
Adding Siri feature which doesn’t work very well
Now iPhone 5 hopefully it has better features and
Bigger screen .. If not apple going to disappoint
A lot of his fans . Bobby.

I’ll wait for the iPhone 5, I’ve had an iPhone 3GS, and 4, currently using a Samsung galaxy S2, so there are high expectations on apple to deliver, well see what comes in the summer (hopefully) as a side note I just like to say everything you may have heard about the galaxy s2 is false this phone is absolutely CRAP and I can’t wait to get rid of it, I thought the update to ICS would improve it but no it only gets WORSE, word of advice people AVOID ALL SAMSUNG SMARTPHONES

And just in case anyone asks I’ve had this phone for a year and I’m a heavy user so yes I have tested it throughly. I take out with me where ever I go, I use it for work related purposes as well as socialising and games, my conclusion? Its a dreadful phone, avoid it

    HTC or iPhone… hmmm…
Depends on the user: If we need the freedom of configuration, the ability to access variety of functions rather than stay at what apple designed for us, the ability to ‘play’ with cam configs – go for the HTC. Otherwise, go for the iPhone.
Also, i’ve heard those who can access additional functions within the iPhone just by ‘jailbreak’ the device. For those, simply buy yourself the Lumina or the One X. Why make a product something it is not?

Iphone 4s has camera made by Sony Screen is  top 326ppi,  needs very little of it 512 ram to perform, Music sounds impressive from its dual speakers & the main thing that everyone wants to work these days on a handset if the operating system because it actually works. If tested several different Android devices & I have to say they are good for customising, but still lack a smooth OS. I have only had the Iphone for just over a week & am loving the fact that their is no forced close error. The 4S may seem basic compared to the HTC ONE X rival but ticks all the right boxes if you want a phone that does what it says on the tin

Totaly agree this should be the only post you read I had a gs2 for a start it crashed at night alarm didn’t go off late for work!!! That basically sums android up gs2 had twice the power speck as the iPhone 4s I have now but every day workings it drive me mad iOS just works perfectly!!!!!!!!!! Android is like an alcoholic great when it’s sober but you know soon it will be drunk and you want to walk away

The Iphone was left behind when the Galaxy S2 came out. The Galaxy Nexus, One X and the upcoming S3 will cement that. Unless the Iphone 5 is something incredible it will be viewed as a little kid’s phone.

I’ve seen that 4 times.oh htc hd2 is better than 3G oh sansung galaxy better than 3GS oh sensation will kick iPhones 4 butt oh galaxy 3 will beat 4s oh oh oh!
Nope it’s just every time an iphone gets launched all android manufactures try to make their phones better than the current iPhone.

    1. 4o2f says:

why wouldn’t they? you could say the same thing about apple attempting to make their product better than the latest android phones……….. any company with half a brain would obviously try to beat the competition.

Iphone 4s is a great phone… Probably the best phone ever… I am an apple fanboy and work in aftersales, so I am a poweruser.
Yet, after testing the One X for a weekend, I ended up selling my 4s (knowing I will buy an iPhone 5 no matter what) and my One X is now my primairy phone and I’m having a blast… The only thing I miss is airplay over my appletv. But I also own an iPad, so that issue is covered.

  10. Pricken says:

My husband has an HTC and I have an Iphone 4s.  I must say there are a lot of cool things on the HTC, but my Iphone is better.  I’ll tell you why, I use the calendar for appointments and such and always add the address and phone number of the doctor, etc.  When we were on our way we needed to call because it was not easy to find using the Navigation on the phone and when I went to the calendar to dial the number it did not let me call from the calendar like the Iphone does.  I could not even copy and paste so I had to memorize and go to the phone i con to dial.  I like being able to access phone numbers and addresses from any app on my Iphone and call or map ASAP.  However I do admit the HTC has very nice graphics and cool things to look at, but I need functionality more than cool TV like tricks.  For that I use my Smart TV.

I think without quad core processor iPhone is nothing next to the HTC One X and you can never compare iPhone with HTC One X in style babes!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Anon says:
