During a financial earning call, the CEO of Intel, Paul Otellini has stated that their first Atom Medfield based smartphone will be released for sale sometime later this week, the smartphone is known as the Xolo X900 handset, a device that Intel partner Lava have already announced they will launch the Xolo X900 in India as of tomorrow.

According to the guys over at GSMArena, although India’s Lava intend to make the Xolo X900 available on the 19th they haven’t announced just how much the smartphone will hit the pocket for, but the guys do suggest it could be around the 500-buck mark for an unlocked version.

The Xolo X900 smartphone offers a 4.03-inch touch screen along with an Intel Atom Z2460 1.6 GHz processor, 8 megapixel rear facing camera with LED flash, a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, 1080p video, HDMI out, NFC, HSPA+ connectivity, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, and will release sporting the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

Originally according to the guys over the The Verge, the first Intel Atom Medfield smartphone was supposed to be the Lenovo K800 that would launch only in China, however they too are now hearing that the Lenovo K800 will be pipped to the post as the first Intel Atom handset by the Xolo X900.

It seems a bit of a shame that the Xolo X900 has beaten the Lenovo K800 to the mobile space considering the Xolo X900 is a Gingerbread device whilst the Lenovo K800 runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich, which one would have thought the first Intel Atom handset made available would carry.
