Droid RAZR MAXX release date confirmed for UK

Many smartphone users can experience unsatisfactory battery life on their devices, which Motorola looked to address with the launch of the Droid RAZR MAXX and its beefed up battery, and now the release date has been confirmed for the UK.

Earlier this month we told you that the device was rumoured to be coming in May and now Motorola has revealed the device will landing in the UK in the middle of next month, and as an article on the Android Community is reporting, it will be the handsets huge 3300 mAh battery that will be tempting Android fans to part with their cash.

The larger battery put on the RAZR MAXX doesn’t even add a huge amount of thickness to the handset either with the device measuring only 8.9mm thick, and this is only a slight bump up from the original RAZR that it is based on. Everything else about the two handsets is exactly the same with the 4.3-inch QHD AMOLED screen and the customized version of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

This should quickly be upgraded to Android Ice Cream Sandwich though, and the RAZR MAXX comes with 16GB of on board memory that can be expanded via the microSD card slot, but it is not known if the UK version of the device will come with the free 16GB card that the Verizon version did. The RAZR MAXX also features an eight megapixel 1080p shooter, 1.2 GHZ dual core processor, and 1GB of RAM.

Price wise the device will be available for around £429.99 SIM free from retailers such as Amazon and Clove, and obviously cheaper when signing up to a new two year contract. Currently release dates for other European regions have not been revealed by the company, but the handset is believed to be launching across Europe in the same month.
