ICS packing Hydro and Rise smartphones from Kyocera

Well now it appears that there will be two new Android Ice Cream Sandwich smartphones coming out to play in the good old US of A sometime later this year in the form of the Kyocera Hydro and the Kyocera Rise handsets, as Kyocera officially announced both Android smartphones during CTIA 2012.

According to the guys over at Ubergizmo by way of Android Central, both the Kyocera Hydro and Rise are entry level handsets that will at least come out to play running Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

Word is the Kyocera Hydro will sport a 3.5-inch HVGA touch screen along with 512MB of RAM and powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon MSM8655 processor and apparently the smartphone will be waterproof to a depth of one metre for 30-minutes, basically because according to Kyocera, 70 percent of polled user’s have said that waterproofing in an important feature.

When it comes to the Kyocera Rise smartphone, the Android 4.0 handset will sport the same specifications as the Kyocera Hydro; however the Kyocera Rise will have a slide out 4-row horizontal QWERTY keyboard rather than the waterproof design.

Furthermore, apparently both the Hydro and Rise will feature a tech Kyocera is calling Tissue Conduction, which apparently is an audio tech that enhances voice calls that utilises a piezoelectric transducer to transmit sound via air as sound waves.

Of course, Kyocera has only officially announced the Kyocera Hydro and Rise and as such didn’t offer any insights as to just when both Android handsets would become available and how much the price tags would be, but there has been some speculation that these devices could be destined for either Verizon or Sprint.

Does the Kyocera Hydro or Kyocera Rise possibly coming to the Big Red or Sprint later in the year capture your interest ?
