Here at Phones Review we like to bring readers news about some of the most popular, entertaining or useful smartphone apps that are available. Today we want to give you some information about Tango, a very popular app at the moment, which enables free mobile video calls and is available for the iOS, Android and Windows Phone platforms.

The Tango Video Calls app is a great way of staying in touch with friends and family around the world and is entertaining, simple to use and free. You can use it from wherever you are on a huge variety of devices across various operating systems and Tango can find another user on your contact list or you can invite others to Tango with you by text or email. If you are an Android phone user you can Tango directly from your address book. All users are able to make free video calls and phone calls and also send free video messages.

It’s quick and simple to set up an account and there’s no log in or password necessary plus Tango has been optimized for mobile experience over 3G, 4G or WiFi. You can save money with the Tango app, save on your mobile data plan and conserve your battery, as well as enjoying a high-quality video experience. You can check out the video that we’ve embedded for you below this story that gives a good idea of how to use Tango on the iOS platform.

You can find the iOS version of Tango Video Calls at iTunes here. It’s a free app and compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd gen), iPod touch (4th gen) and iPad and requires iOS 4.0 or later. The app also allows the user to personalize their video calls with Tango Surprises, a fun collection of animations that can be purchased in-app. Group video messaging is also available.

The Windows Phone version of Tango Video Calls is available at the Windows Marketplace here. Again it’s a free app and this one is compatible with Windows Phone devices running WP 7.5 or later. Another feature is that it’s very simple to switch from a phone call to a video call when you need to, just by tapping on the camera icon.

Finally we have the Tango Video Calls app for Android available at Google Play here. Again the app is free and this one is suitable for devices running Android 2.1 or later. I have downloaded Tango on my Samsung Note and my daughter can video call me.  However, she is not in my Tango contacts and when I go into my contacts there is a button showing for a video call but when I press it simply says unable to make video call, try voice call.  Can you help me with this please?

I have just installed Tango on my 2 year old HTC Desire HD. I haven’t had time to do any extensive testing but so far so good. i haven’t experienced any of the problems that some users have reported on google play. I’m happy with the app. It looks like something I will use alot.
