Gifting Facebook with Karma app

We’re bringing you news today about Karma, a social gifting innovation and a name you may have heard of recently as it’s growing in popularity day by day. Karma has now been acquired by Facebook and there are also iOS and Android apps that we have details of for you.

The idea behind Karma seems to have struck a chord with many people and as the name suggests, there’s a real feel-good factor involved. Developments over the past year have brought this e-commerce platform to the fore and Karma also used Facebook to widen its social gifting appeal. Now Facebook has acquired Karma and so the appeal of this already popular platform is set to expand even further.

A statement issued by Karma’s co-founders says that Karma will carry on operating following the Facebook acquisition and that the combination of the Karma community and Facebook means that “we can delight users in new and meaningful ways.” The basic idea of Karma is that it enables users to send gifts from any place and at a time that suits them best. This way of showing you care uses a curated catalog of products and lives up to its billing as a social gifting experience. You don’t even need to know the address of the person you are sending a gift to as once you gift the item the recipient simply supplies their address.

Mobile apps are available and the iOS Karma app is free and compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad running iOS 4.0 or later. Features of the iOS app means that birthdays, marriages, new jobs and more need never be forgotten again. An example of some of the gifts available include some from top brands such as Champagne from Domain Chandon and chocolate from Vosges Haut-Chocolat. Recipients of the gifts receive a card with message and you need never worry about whether they will like the gift as they get to choose colors, flavors and styles or can swap the gift for something different. You can download Karma for iOS devices from iTunes here.

The Android Karma app is available from Google Play here. Again, this is a free app and this one is compatible with devices running Android 2.2 or later. The connection with Facebook makes it easy for people to know about the meaningful events of their friends and where a thoughtful gift could be just the ticket. We’d like to know if you’ve enjoyed the Karma experience? If you have already used the service to either give or receive a gift then what did you think of Karma? Maybe you’re new to Karma but will be downloading the app now to try it out?
