Most expensive app you purchased for iPhone or iPad

Apart from bringing you all the news and developments regarding phones and tablet devices, here at Phones Review we also like to get an insight into our readership from time to time. Today we want to discuss mobile apps and particularly ask our readers, what is the most expensive app that you’ve ever purchased for your iPhone or iPad?

The surge in growth of mobile apps over the last few years has been nothing short of astounding and for many of us using apps has become a part of daily life. In fact so much so that we might well wonder what we did before they came into existence. A lot of the apps downloaded on various platforms such as iOS, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry are free apps but if you’re anything like us you’ll have found that more and more often you’re downloading paid-for apps as well. Many times we’ve started off with the free version of the app before being tempted to pay for the premium version.

Of course many apps are still very cheap and it’s simply a case of spending pence or cents each time so that the price is almost forgettable on a day-by-day basis. However, I reckon that if most of us actually added up how much we now spend on apps over a longer period of time we’d be quite surprised at how much it amounts to. Apart from inexpensive apps though there are also plenty around that are anything but cheap and we wonder if you’ve ever been tempted to download a very expensive app and if this is likely to be more for pleasure or business purposes?

We’ve taken a look at some of the apps in the Apple App Store and you might be shocked at how costly some of them are. For example there’s the BarMax CA app, which costs a whopping $999.99/£699.99 for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. This is purely for professional purposes and comes from the Harvard Law School as a review course for those taking the California bar exam. We imagine that those intending a career in law may well think that the cost of this app is a small price to pay!

Another hugely expensive app is VIP Black, which also costs $999.99/£699.99. Again this is compatible for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and as the title suggests is for those who want to revel in a VIP status. Described in iTunes as a ‘premium lifestyle application’ and also dubbed ‘The Millionaire’s App’ this enables people with the right status to locate partner venues, take advantage of welcome packages, complimentary upgrades, special rates, and other privileges. If you’re hoping to blag your way with the VIP Black app though it’s not so easy as users have to complete certification to show that they have assets/income worth at least $1 million.

As you can see from these examples there are some hugely expensive mobile apps available for iPhone and iPad and this is where we’d like to hear from readers. What is the costliest app you ever bought for your iPhone or iPad? Just as importantly, was it worth it? Send your comments using the box below.
