ICS Alcatel OT986 smartphone for China details

Now Alcatel isn’t know for delivering high end or even mid range smartphones to the mobile space, but it appears Alcatel will have an Android Ice Cream sandwich coming out over in China, a smartphone known as the Alcatel OT986, and today we are treated to some spec details of the ICS smartphone.

According to the guys over at Unwired View, by way of NetEase, the Alcatel OT986 smartphone comes packing a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 HD IPS touch screen along with a 5 megapixel rear facing camera with LED flash, a 2 megapixel front facing snapper, 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage, HSPA+ support, and a 1.5GHz dual core TI OMAP 4460 processor.

The Alcatel OT986 will have the branding TCL S900 on the Chinese market, is is apparently 9.75mm slim and will run the Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system right from the outset, and apparently there will also be a cheaper version of the device that will come with 4GB internal storage and a 1.2GHz processor, although it is not clear when the cheaper version will sport the same name as the high end version.

The Alcatel OT986, the guys say is interestingly one of the very few non-Nexus smartphones that have Android 4.0, and doesn’t feature any physical Android capacitive buttons (image below).

Apparently the TCL S900 handset will command an asking price of 1999 yuan roughly $315, although the price tag of the Alcatel OT986 has not yet been revealed, but word is the Alcatel OT986 should command a similar price to that of the TCL model, and of course no word on whether Alcatel will deliver the Alcatel OT986 elsewhere.
