Celebrating Peter Carl Fabergé with egg apps

Regular readers of Phones Review will know that we always enjoy the Google Doodles that occasionally appear on the Google homepage to commemorate people or mark an occasion. If you visit www.google.com today you will notice that the Google Doodle is celebrating Peter Carl Fabergé, so we decided to show you a couple of Fabergé egg apps for Android users.

Fabergé was born on May 30, 1846 and died on September 24, 1920 and was a noted Russian jeweler, famous for Fabergé eggs, in the style of real eggs but made from gems and precious metals. The Google Doodle today marks what would have been his 166th birthday and so if you are a Fabergé enthusiast you may enjoy these apps. To check out the apps or download them simply click on the title links to be taken straight to the Google Play store.

First we have Faberge HD Live Wallpapers from Xanders Arts, a free app compatible for devices running Android 2.1 or later. As you would expect this offers the user free HD live wallpapers featuring the works of Fabergé. It doesn’t need a launcher, consumes little of your battery power and works on all phones using the required OS detailed above. Themes are from Xanders Arts works and also open-source materials.

Our next app suggestion is EASTER and FABERGE from SandyBell. This is also a free app and compatible with devices running Android 1.5 or later. This is a really neat app as it features a game suitable for kids, inspired by the jeweled eggs of Fabergé and the surprises contained inside. Different pictures can be chosen and also various levels of complexity. You can also cut and mix pictures and the game involves sliding and placing pieces into the correct positions.

Hopefully you’ll find that at least one of these apps will give you a taste of Fabergé. Are you new to the works of Fabergé and will you be trying out one of these apps? Maybe you’re a real enthusiast and know of another app telling more about the Russian jeweler that you can share with us? Let us know by sending us your comments.
