iPhone 4S jailbreak problem cure is Absinthe 2.0.4

The new Absinthe 2.0 jailbreak that was released last week was very good news indeed, but for some there were a few teething issues to boot. This new tool can jailbreak most Apple devices and apparently there was one version of the iPad 2 that could not be jailbroken, say hello to Absinthe 2.0.4.

Last Friday we already reported that the new Absinthe 2.0 iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak public release had an update to fix a few bugs, but news was coming in that there were still a few problems with iPhone 4S and this is where we would like to mention the iPhone 4S jailbreak problem cure is Absinthe 2.0.4.

The Chronic Dev Team has now updated its new jailbreak with a fix for iPhone 4S and the iPad 2.4 now has support according to GottaBeMobile, according to this source the iPad 2.4 can now be jailbroken. This new jailbreak update can also sort the lockdown error -5 problem that stopped a few users performing the iPhone 4S jailbreak.

You can download the latest version of Absinthe 2 by following these links provided, yes it means you can start again; click the following links that suits you — MacOSX (10.5, 10.6, 10.7) – Windows (XP/Vista/Win7) – Linux (x86/x86_64)

The source above reports that you should use the Restore option in iTunes instead of resetting the iPhone or iPad, in some countries jailbreaking is illegal but those that do this will get benefits such as installing any app as well as customising iOS 5.1.1, obviously we here at Phones Review have not given you permission to do so, we just report the news and you do at your own risk.

Please do let us know if you have tried out or going to try out Absinthe 2.0.4, anything you can share with us would be great, thanks.

Does anyone actually have a solution for the Lockdownd Error. I have tried every thing suggested  even the latest 2.0.4 with an iTunes restore beforehand, but still get the same error.

I haven’t done an erase all content and settings from the iPhone 4 yet as I don’t know if I can restore my Photo’s etc once it is Jailbroken. Can you do a restore with a jailbroken phone and do you then lose the jailbreak?

    Any help please.

I have Jailbroken my 4S (AT&T) without any problems.  I did have an issue with my wife’s 4 (Verizon).  When I connected her 4 to my computer and ran Absinthe 2.0.2, it recognized the iPhone 4 as “iPhone3,3”.  I have not found ANYWHERE online where anybody has talked about this.  I was worried about doing the JB but it worked just fine.  Hopefully people that run into this issue can see this post!

Lockdown error -5 like is so common.

Absinth 2.0.4, MacBook Pro, iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1

Got stuck (for over an hour) at “Waiting for reboot”.  Phone had rebooted already.  unplugged phone… ooops.  No Cydia, and Absinth returns the lockdown error.

Am in the process of clean restore of my phone.

It seems most you tube videos ask you to wipe all your Data on your idevice or it will be stuck at some stage, I have not tried this, but maybe you should try a clean 5.1.1 🙂

I don’t really like Jail breaking, but one question. IS IT SAFE???

  9. Changes4 says:

I tried running absinthe on my iPhone 4s, 3 tries latter, absinthe says it stopped working, I gave up. Waiting for a update I hope, running on netbbok with windows 7

I’m a new to all of this. I have an Iphone 4 and I thought what the hell and thought I would jailbreak the device. I downloaded absinthe 2.0.4, pluged in my phone to the computer, followed the guide lines and all is well. No issues what soever. The only problems I do have is when I download a different theme, the weather is in celsius not fahrenheit. Still trying to figure this one out.
