Samsung Intensity III for Verizon pictured

Although the smartphone has taken the mobile space by storm, there are still feature phones coming out over in the good old US of , and one such feature phone is the Samsung Intensity III, without any signs of a touch screen, but with a slide out QWERTY keyboard, and destined for Verizon.

And the image of the Samsung Intensity III (above) comes our way courtesy of the guys over at Unwired View and by way of Phone Arena who were sent the Samsung Intensity III picture by an unnamed tipster, and is of course the follow up device to the Samsung Intensity II.

The word is the Samsung Intensity III will be hitting Verizon shelves in the not too distant future, and that slide out QWERTY keyboard will come in handy for tapping out those text messages, other than that there’s no word on what specs the Intensity III offers, other than a 2.2 to 2.4-inch display.

Hopefully the Samsung Intensity III will be offered as a free handset by Verizon, otherwise we can’t really see customers rushing to grab this one, especially in the day and age of the smartphone, but who knows, no doubt there are a few out there that still shy away from a smartphone in favour of a feature phone.

We’d like to ask any of our readers if they are still living in the past and using a feature phone, and if so why haven’t you jumped aboard the smartphone train?

Your kidding with that question right? Maybe a better question would be. Why on earth would you pay $30 or $40 a month for a data plan to post pictures of your new puppy on facebook or what ever meaningless dribble you do with it. Every where poeple are mindlessly gazing at their smartphones as their lives pass them by, they are like a virus sapping the life out of society. Rooms full of people staring at there phones. People walking in front of cars. Meanwhile the phone carriers celebrate and plot new ways to make the virus more profitable and spread.

I totally agree with you 100%!  Couldn’t have said it better myself.  Loose the smart phone and enjoy life’s journey.

People are too tied up in themselves, they feel that everyone cares what their doing, I know I don’t have Ipad, laptop, mac at home that all I need to be connected, 15 years ago no one knew what other people were doing, I wish it were still that way now BIG BROTHER can track and know your every move.

I have an HTC touchscreen with windows 6.1. I had everything turned off (web, messaging, etc) and I have had it 3 years and I have hated  the piece of crap for 3 years. I am looking at the Samsung Intensity III as it seems like a very nice “Basic” cell phone. My wife and I are unable to afford $150 to $200 per month, and besides, we both have newer laptops!  I’ve wanted a Droid phone for several years, but now I’ve been thinking why? If anyone knows where I can get the Intensity III for free, please let me know. I almost bought two from Wirefly but I don’t know if they are legit or not???

I don’t bother with smart phones because A: I have an iPad. B: I work from home, so my iPad and laptop cover pretty much everything and finally C: the price of data package plans are insane.. Totally not necessary! The only reason I would LIKE a smart phone is the camera quality is always better than on the basic phones… At least from what I’ve seen. But I can take a pic with my basic phone and email it or send it to facebook no problem. Why waste money? At least in my case…

Every time I have had a smart phone the touchscreen has burned out for some reason or another.
And to boot, the manufacturer is never responsible for what in my opinion is sub par technology.
And who doesn’t have a computer at home for making posts and checking e mails? Back to the basic flip which never gave me a problem in the first place. You had me goin but I’m on to you now. Goodbye data plan goodbye sensitive fragile touch screens hello an extra sixty bucks every pay.

    Respectfully yours,
Too smart for the smart phone

Can’t afford it in this economy.  Plus studies say “gadgets” contribute to poor memory, so the more you use a smartphone and multi-task, the worse your memory gets!

Really, “Living in the past”?  wow…  how’s it feel to be another one of the cattle that think Smartphones (and the required data plans) are a necessity?  90% of smartphone users don’t need them, can’t afford them and are simply trying to “keep up with the Jones’s”.  LOL…  suckers!!!  The phone companies LOVE you!  HA HA…

I am exactly that customer that is seeking to live in the past.  I am a thirty year old tech savy male, but I don’t want to become bonded to a smart phone.  I don’t want to be connect to the net constantly.  I don’t want to keep the internet on my desk, and a thing I go to, not make it into some kind of soul sucking appendage. I have been using a near museum piece, and it finally degraded to the point where I went phone shopping.  I wanted a small phone, but a well built one.  There are none to be found, only these slave built slabs of pretension.  The Intensity III was the phone for me.  I just bought a pay as you go contract.

CORRECTED TYPO:  I am exactly that customer that is seeking to live in the past.  I am a

shopping.  I wanted a small phone, but a well built one.  There are none

Short answer: $30+ data plan per month.
Longer answer: Like some of the other answers, I have a laptop and a tablet that give me all the Internet access I need. I am rarely anyplace I don’t get wifi. I don’t live for Facebook, MySpace, or any other social media. I need a phone to make calls, send/receive texts, and the odd photo or photo message.

I know my children like them but I can’t really say why. I’m not a gadget person. I prefer a DSLR to a 2 MP cell phone camera. I prefer to develop apps than download them. I’d rather compile and deploy an app than pay for one. I don’t FB or Twit. So a smart phone is dumb.
