Google Nexus 10 tablet approaching next report

The Google Nexus 7 tablet from Asus was finally unveiled at Google I/O last week and it’s fair to say it has managed to make a major impact already. Although we’d been posting about this Android tablet for some time it was good to see it finally made official and now, before the initial fuss has even died down, we are seeing reports of a possible Google Nexus 10 tablet.

The Google Nexus 7 has impressed many people since its reveal ahead of a release around mid-July. Not only does it have a quad-core processor and is extremely competitively priced but best of all for many Android fans is the fact that it will launch running the brand new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. Pre-orders for the Nexus 7 have opened and a huge amount of pre-launch interest has already been shown so it seems assured that Google & Asus have a bit hit on their hands. It certainly makes sense then to capitalize on that popularity by bringing out a larger Google Nexus tablet.

The source of the Google Nexus 10 speculation is our old friend, Taiwanese newspaper DigiTimes, which has a mixed record of accurate product news. Brought to our attention by BGR, the paper reports that ‘industry sources’ say that a 10-inch Google Nexus tablet is being planned and that the touch panels for it will come from AU Optronics and also Wintek. This would make Wintek the largest supplier of touch panels to Google as the company is reported to have already shipped half a million OGS (one glass solution) panels for the Google Nexus 7.

Wintek claims to have capacity to produce 3 million medium-sized touch panels and another 5 million smaller panels so this report does have an element of plausibility. Phone Arena also points out that a 10-inch Google Nexus tablet would be a direct rival for Amazon’s rumored larger model of the Kindle Fire. It’s all rather intriguing then but no timeframe has been leaked for a possible Google Nexus 10. There’s nothing to say it might not appear later this year though, perhaps in time for the holiday season.

We reckon that with the amount of interest shown already in the Google Nexus 7 with Jelly Bean, it seems highly likely that Google would also achieve success with a larger 10-inch tablet but we’d like to hear your thoughts on this. Do you like what you’ve seen so far of the Google Nexus 7 but were hoping for a larger display? Send your comments to let us know.

Yes I would love to see 10in display. I have a nook tablet and I want an Android tablet with a larger display. I’m not an “I” fan…

definitely interested in a 10-13 inch tab with an innovative keyboard that likens to microsofts surface tab but better. i just hope both these tabs get a host of accessories to play with. my GNexus is a little bare dont want my new tab to be too.

If they start making 13″ tablets, you are getting into laptop size.  Even 10″ is too large for most women’s purses (although they fit in backpacks).  I like the 7″ for the portability, although watching movies on a 10 is much better.  Hopefully the Nexsus will come with a cable and the ability to stream your videos, TV shows and movies to your regular TV unit.  I hope so anyway.  Am taking a wait see further into the year.

Nexus devices don’t have MicroSD card slots for a reason. Right or wrong, Google has explained in detail their reasoning behind this (unified memory being the primary reason)

I did order a 16GB Nexus 7 at 14:07 hours on the 27th. Only for the OS. I have a 10″ Asus Transformer and other tablets. My next tablet will most likely be a MS Surface Pro. I think that MS, by announcing their entry into the tablet world will be forced to produce bullet proof units. So I am guessing that all the overseas tablets will be a little less in quality. With that said, I see that CNET has rated the Asus Infinity TF700T as #2 right behind IPad 3. Interestingly they have also rated the Nexus 7 as the #3 tablet on the market. Then eeepadtransformer site mentioned that Asus is going to market their new TF700T in Windows 8 load to be called the Asus 600. Keep in mind this model has the 1920×1200 Super IPS + display and the 4 lens 8MB camera with flash shooting full 1080p video. So question is, is Google going to build the Nexus 10 with their own new toy Moto, or is Asus going to build mess up their 600 for Google like they did the MeMo 370T?

Having a Google Nexus phone & an Asus Transformer Prime, I think the 7″ will be my next $pree. 🙂 but it will have to get a back facing camera first. I hope they put a keyboard option on their newer “potential” 10″ Tablet

stick a retina display on a 10″ google tablet, or something slate like and I would snap it up…seeing such a high res on apple screens makes me want to wait on android and windows devices…

I recently purchased a 16gb Nexus 7 and love it. I also own a first gen iPad which is starting to have some issues, and with apples next iOS is not supporting the original iPad I will be looking to replace it in The near future. I would be very likely to choose a larger version of the Nexus tab over an iPad, especially if Google is alble to keep the quality and price as competitive as the Nexus 7.

I pre ordered the Kindle fire hd 8.9 due out Nov.20th, if Google is coming out with a 10″ I hope they tell us before Nov. 19th so I can cancel the Kindle.
