Galaxy Note ICS update for AT&T missing but others bricked

We have some news today for those of you on AT&T waiting for the Android 4.0 ICS update to be rolled out to you, as it seems that this could be the very last Galaxy Note that will receive it. However while we can understand frustration about the absent ICS update, spare a thought for Galaxy Note users in France whose devices have been bricked by the official Samsung ICS update there.

Usually when we report on delays of software updates to devices, people are understandably pretty annoyed and we’re sure many AT&T Galaxy Note owners are in this situation right now. The international version of the Galaxy Note received ICS back in May but AT&T and Samsung have both held back so far on naming a specific release date for the update on AT&T. Given the huge popularity of this device we would have thought that at least some information should have been handed out to owners to give an indication that ICS for the AT&T Galaxy Note hasn’t been forgotten.

Also it seems that in North America, Rogers is to release the Galaxy Note ICS update on July 21, according to a Gotta Be Mobile report, sourced from Mobile Syrup. This info came from a leaked document so is not confirmed but at least Rogers Galaxy Note owners now have something to go on rather than being completely in the dark. With still no ICS date for the Galaxy Note on AT&T it does look very much the case that AT&T owners of the device will be the last to receive the update.

It’s not all bad though as if AT&T and Samsung had already rolled out the ICS update to the Galaxy Note you may have a bricked, useless device by now. A report on Phone Arena, sourced from Gizmodo France, tells how the official Samsung ICS update for the Galaxy Note in France has left many owners with bricked devices. The update was launched only recently but has turned into a customer relations nightmare as a bug in the firmware file has bricked devices, leading to a huge outcry in the country. Samsung has now had to pull the update in France and is working to resolve the issue.

We’d like to hear your thoughts on the AT&T Galaxy Note ICS update. Would you gladly wait longer to avoid your phone being bricked with an official ICS update? Maybe you’re just fed up at still waiting for ICS and being given no official news? Let us know with your comments.

I had an iPhone for about 2 years and even repaired them for a while for folks.  Although, in my opinion the Note blows away the iPhone (even with Gingerbread).  So I’m content to wait a little longer to make sure they have all the bugs worked out.  The iPhone is so tiny and you can do anything significant unless you unlock it.  So follow the lemmings and breath the Apple air.

I honestly dont mind the wait but with so many people waiting and getting more and more upset the lack of information is what gets me a bit angry. Tell us there is a problem you are trying to fix or that it is not stable or even that at&t is having trouble making bloatware compatible just dont leave us in the dark.

Everybody blames Samsung as if it’s their fault. The blame is on AT&T. All Samsung does is give carriers the base firmware. It’s up to the carriers to taylor it to their devices. So AT&T is the reason ICS is late on the rollout not Samsung. Samsung did their part but AT&T is way behind the power curve. And an update for the release so far is mid July to early August after talking to developers at AT&T Headquarters in Dallas, TX. I told them to read posts on the situation in blogs and chat rooms to get a grasp on customer dissatisfaction about the holdup. He told me there are people at AT&T that checks random sites to see the comments from their customers. So everything that is said by customers are being taken into consideration due to the fact that as of now, AT&T is losing alot of money because of the late update and contract cancellations. But so far it seems as if AT&T is listening but don’t have a response because they don’t even know when the update will be released.

Yup…you have it right.  ATT has the raw firmware already …. but typical to ATT’s heritage (We Are The Phone Company), they take forever to do even the simplest things (like figure out what bloatware they are going to sponsor on their products) and as is typical of any company of similar size, inertia within their own company ( turf wars over the color and scheme of the UI ) slows the entire process down.  What’s worse is that instead of just being up front about it in the face of their customers, they just go dark and don’t say anything (let the customers speculate and stew in silence) AKA, horrific customer service practice.  On the good side, they do a lot of QA before they release updates …. even if it is so late that most of their customer base has abandoned their product in favor of a more customer oriented company like T-Mobile for example ….

  3. TAnthony says:

I’d rather have Gingerbread than a Brick.  The Gingerbread software on the Galaxy Note makes a fine phone, but for the $299 I paid in March I was counting on the Premium Suite + ICS to make this device a notebook “almost” replacement. I am disappointed at the (4 months and counting) lateness of ICS+the Premium Suite and I would like some crumb of information about what’s going on.

I’m sure AT&T is closely gauging how much this lateness is a drag on Note sales and balancing it against the cost of a bricking disaster. How about giving us an ICS update without the AT&T bloatware for now. Would that get us a safe upgrade faster?  Does that bloatware actually make you much money?

As for all that bluster about going back to their iPhones, I don’t believe anybody who says they are going back to Apple.  All my iPhone friends are already clearly envious of the screen, the pen and the cheap 64GB addon slot.  If AT&T can get ICS+Premium Suite out, Galaxy Note sales will accelerate.

  4. Hank says:

I agree with a lot of what others are saying. I will be happy w/Gingerbread for the moment. However, Wife & I got our Notes with the understanding and agreement that the ICS upgrade was truly in the works and on the way. “It was only a matter of a few days to when the upgrade would happen. ” But right now, I’ll wait until Note #2 comes out or we get ICS or JBean. Whichever comes first I’ll take. Besides, this has all the makings of a great game to watch AT&T’s dance steps and the newest version of “Spin Baby, Spin! “. Could become quite comical, but, I’d think all will be settled prior to the years (2012) end. So, how is the other Note ICS updates doing? Let us know!

    1. ajleight says:

Yeah, it’s more about them promising us ICS and then not communicating when it never came. Not so much about actually wanting ICS anymore lol.

  5. Edward Smith says:

Such a joke, I have had the GNote for months and have been running ICS leaks the majority of that time…including most of the users on XDA. Makes no sense why all us root user can use the leaks with no major issues that we couldn’t fix while Samsung and AT&T can’t get a stable build to release. At least release the source code if your going to delay the launch.

    1. dreeemer says:

I believe they released the code in May. That’s why most believed ICS was on it’s way. Apparently, there’s a glitch in the Matrix…

  6. Jeffblond says:

really where did you get this info.   btw that not even the same phone,  i’ve been trying to find some useful info about the rlease but keep comming across useless posts like this one.  keep up the good work

    1. ajleight says:

Yeah that’s the thing…. I really do like GB. I wish they would just say that ICS will never be on the Note so that I could just sit back and relax and enjoy my phone. But I’m so peeved at their lack of communication and false promises that I won’t be able to truly enjoy it until I have what they have promised. F’ing mother f’ers, lol.

  7. dreeemer says:

OK, so how is T-Mobile getting the Note with ICS as stock system? Then again, maybe that’s y t
    T-Mobile hasn’t released the official date yet…

  8. DDBones says:

a little of both, annoyed at the silence but more willing to wait for it to be RIGHT… AT&T apparently has given up on true customer service.

    1. ajleight says:

You mean Samsung… AT&T is probably in the dark just as much as we are. Maybe not to the same degree, but it’s not their news to spread. It’s Samsung’s and it’s absolutely ridiculous that they haven’t at least updated their customers by now.

      1. Nautycasport says:

OBVIOUSLY SAMSUNG RELEASED ICS ALREADY. SAMSUNG DOES NOT UPDATE AT&T PHONES. AT&T UPDATES AT&T PHONES. SAMSUNG JUST MAKES THE BASE FIRMWARE FOR PARTICULAR PHONES. THEN SAMSUNG GIVES THAT SOFTWARE TO CARRIERS. THEN THE CARRIERS SENDS OUT THE UPDATES WHEN THEY GET FINISHED PUTTING ALL THE BLOATWARE ON IT. SO I DON’T SEE HOW IT’S SAMSUNGS FAULT IF ALL THEY DO IS BUILD THE BASE SOFTWARE (WHICH ALL CARRIERS HAVE ALREADY) AND GIVE IT TO AT&T TO ADD AT&T CRAP TO IT AND THEN GIVE IT TO US. SAMSUNG DID THEIR JOB, AT&T (AND OTHER CARRIERS) AREN’T DOING THEIRS, AND YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY RESEARCH BEFORE YOU POST BULLSHIT.

        1. ajleight says:

Show me where it says that AT&T has the firmware for GNote 1717 ICS… you won’t, because you can’t… I understand very well how the process works, and I also understand where we are in the process currently. Obviously, you don’t….

          1. Nautycasport says:

SPOKEN AS IF YOU ACTUALLY WORKED FOR A CELLPHONE COMPANY. WELL I USE TO WORK FOR AT&T 3 YEARS AGO IN THE IT DEPARTMENT. SO I THINK I KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT. SO LET’S DUMB IT DOWN FOR YOU. SAMSUNG CREATES THE BASE SOFTWARE, AT&T ADDS THEIR OWN CRAP TO THE BASE SOFTWARE, IF AT&T CAN’T FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO IT THEY ASK SAMSUNG FOR HELP. SAMSUNG THEN HELPS AT&T WITH THE BUILD. SO A SOFTWARE UPDATE STILL DEPENDS ON A CARRIER TO ROLL IT OUT, NOT THE PRODUCER. IF A TEACHER GIVES A CHILD HOMEWORK, WHO’S RESPONSIBILITY IS IT TO MAKE SURE THE HOMEWORK GETS DONE? THE CHILD. SAME FOR SAMSUNG AND AT&T. SAMSUNG GAVE AT&T THE WORK TO DO SO AT&T CAN COMPLETE THE ASSIGNMENT ON TIME. AND AS FOR WHERE TO FIND OUT INFORMATION ON WHO DOES WHAT IN REFERENCE TO CELLULAR COMPANIES, READ THE IT ARCHITECTURE AND INFRASTRUCTURE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF SAMSUNG. YOU MIGHT LEARN A THING OR TWO. IN YOUR CASE, MAYBE NOT.

          2. ajleight says:

That was some of the most incomprehensible babble that I’ve ever been fortunate enough to read on the subject. I get exactly what you’re saying. Again, I an very familiar with the process, whether you believe me or not. But I happen to know that it was Samsung forcing the delay, because they wanted to see how the release went internationally. As of 2:39 PM yesterday, Samsung provided AT&T, Bell, Rogers, etc with the final update, with the bricking issue being corrected. The firmware well then be pushed to consumers, as soon as the bloatware is deemed functional. Estimated date is July 13th, this coming Friday.

P.S. Thanks for writing in all CAPS. Your intelligence oozes out with every oversized word.

          3. NAUTYCASPORT says:

YOU’RE WELCOME. AND THE RELEASE DATE IS ACTUALLY SET FOR TODAY JULY 10TH.

  9. Gnelsonat says:

Have the s2, which just received ics….. my phone has been randomly rebooting ever since, not chronic but irritating… bottom line is, att gets their updates from Samsung, so obviously the bloatware and value added crap att adds to their specific updates is crap…. if they can’t get it right, then don’t add the value added crap… my phone was flawless before the software update and now its not… we shouldn’t have to wait so long for an update that DOESNT work!!

    1. ajleight says:

Do yourself a favor and just root to get ICS. That’s great that you got it OTA, but you can get a version that doesn’t restart and be able to delete the bloatware all in one fail swoop. Good luck.

  10. Charlie says:

I think I can wait! Till the bugs are fixed! But I understand it frustrating cause I left iPhone for the note cause of heavy promise about how great ics will be on the note. But to hear there are problem left and right makes me think, if ics is having problems then what’s going to happen when jelly bean comes will I have to wait 2 yrs? But so far loving my phone will be getting nexus 7, so will see jelly bean before note will have it!

  11. Welera28 says:

International Galaxy Note GT-N7000 australian version has not been released yet as well so it is not only AT&T customers from USA who are considered the last ones to receive the ICS update. Now with these terrible news about what it is happening with the International Galaxy Note in France, Now who really wants to update confidently knowing that something could be wrong and brick your phone. No good Samsung and Google!!..The ice cream sandwich is poison for our GN health and the jelly beans probably are out of date so let’s continue eating Gingerbread 2.3.6!!

  12. Whiteb68 says:

i have had ICS on my AT&T Galaxy Note for about 3 months now, i love it and have had no issues!!! jus root your phone and do the same!! i will never got back to gingerbread!!

    1. Carliesa says:

How did you get ur phone to 4.0? I’m still waiting, I was gonna trade up for an S3 but I stayed b/c I was told the note would have 4.0 soon & do all the S3 does plus have a big screen! I don’t wanna mess nothing up but I’d like to get it done b4 I run outta trade-in time! Lol!

      1. ajleight says:

Go to YouTube and type in “Root Galaxy Note”… then afterwards, go to Google and type “ICS rom Galaxy Note”… you’ll find detailed instructions on everything and it’s really very simple. You don’t have to be a genius to do it, but I would recommend following directions to a “t”

  13. Fiddiemo says:

I left IOS for the Note and the promise of ICS.  The extreme delay in delivering the ICS update casts a very broad and thick cloud over my confidence in AT&T’s ability to execute on logistic support tails for ANY device they sell.  This is not the experience I expect from a premiere phone company, and it is definitely not the experience I had with IOS.

I absolutely abhor the bloat ware AT&T places on their phones.  Its bad enough they hold up on delivering the latest and greatest experience to their customers, and even worse that you CAN’T remove the unwanted software they push on you from YOUR phone.

I didn’t sign up with AT&T for bloatware, I signed up for phone service.  If you’re listening/reading AT&T, STOP with the useless software you force on your customers.

Lastly, AT&T, do consider the consumer has a choice – one can leave just as easily as we signed up.  Focus on providing quality phone service and leave the apps to customer choice.

      1. Bervick says:

AT&T cannot build their version till Samsung releases it to them. Samsung delayed it first. Then the carrier delays it next.

I really don’t know who runs their AT&T crapware. Google should find a way of reaching out to every customer and telling them the alternatives to every POS that AT&T provides. An eg. is AT&T Navigator. When absolutely no one uses their crap, that’s prob when they will give up on wasting time with it.

My guess is the major delay is with testing now. Not so much the bloatware.

  14. Jinxb2k says:

I sold my iphone 4 for a Galaxy Note expecting ice cream sandwich now it has been a few months sinception the promised date and like others who made the switch I’m disappointed. Having flash on you phone has it advantages but I believe I will be going back to apple after this.I like android but I don’t want to be forced to buy a new phone every year just to have the new os. Even the iPhone 3GS is going to have ios6 before the Note has ICS that’ssaying something on at&t and Samsung part. Maybe there holding back on purpose because the 9 billion reserves for the galaxy s3; I’m just saying its a strong possibility.

  15. ian says:

I also left the iPhone for the Galaxy Note. It is frustrating having to wait so long for ICS. Who knows how long it will be until it gets Jelly Bean. Needless to say, I will be going back to iPhone especially since the new one is supposed to have bigger screen.

    1. ajleight says:

I’d rather still be running Gingerbread for the rest of my life than go to an iPhone. No customization whatsoever – only the apps they want you to have – screens the size of my thumbnail… and to top it off, they’re made in factories by 12 year old boys who work 18 hours a day and get paid 15 cents an hour. Screw Apple, screw Steve Jobbs and screw the iPhone. Good riddance, Ian.

  16. Jova says:

Do not wait for ‘official’ ICS for your Note. It will be full of bloatware as usual. Just root your phone and load independent ICS. Lean and clean, fast, stable…

  17. Bigboi2316 says:

What understand is how can they do this…i mean everyone wants this update…how can hey jus stall…or is it they dont have it ready yet…or its such a massive update tbat if everyo.e did it at once it would crash there severs or sumthi g

  18. unhappy note owner in UK says:

Just for all you people waiting and frustrated. Trust me, its not worth the wait!

Updated my GT-N7000 a month ago and had over 5 hours of phone conversations with Samsung UK to try and get them to accept that the official update is full of problems.

The only real advantages of the ICS update are the notifications. Everything else makes the Note worse than on stock Gingerbread. 1.5 hours battery life if using Google Nav, apps force closing constantly, Maps thinking I’m in the middle of the Indian Ocean when trying to plot a route, Chrome F/C’s, Dolphin Mini whih was the best browser on Gingerbread is terrible on ICS. Calls dont connect or drop for no reason. Data connectivity rates drop massively on GPRS, 3G and HSDPA with pages loading correctly only on HSDPA+, Cell signal weaker within my building to the point I now need to leave it by the window to avoid missing incoming calls, The list does go on and on and on. Samsung UK deny they are aware of these issues as people are not spending the money on a premium rate number to report them, thinking it’s device specific or they’re doing something wrong maybe. Samsung UK say they “take no notice of internet sites” when investigating problems as these are not officially reported problems, so no matter how many thousands of times you see that ICS DOES have problems on the Note written on internet forums or blog posts there is apparently no major problem to Samsung as not enough people have reported it to matter.

Don’t be frustrated, having a Note that no longer work as well as it does for you now is much more frustrating! Don’t update using Kies or OTA as ICS update conflicts if you update this way.

The phone needs to be wiped, formatted and a clean install done. Still the base code is full of bugs which for me leave it as a very expensive paperweight. Not bricked, just not as good as the phone I bought in the first place. Stick with Gingerbread until Samsung release a 4.0.4 or pull there fingers out and fix the issues they know are in this 4.0.3 release.

Finally if you do upgrade and find the same issues as me, they have decided rolling back to Gingerbread will invalidate your warranty. This is absurd as Gingerbread is what they designed the product with in the first place and what worked. Officially there is no way to downgrade, however I have managed to get written authority from Samsung UK to have an official Samsung Service centre carry out the installation of Gingerbread so it IS possible, and WILL NOT invalidate anything if you do not give up and persist until you have this authorisation from them.

    1. ajleight says:

I appreciate your “review”, so to speak. I too have had ICS (on the Galaxy Nexus) and am not blown away by any means. But again, that’s not the point. The point is, we were told we’d have it long ago. Phones all around us already have it, and most new ones come with it stock. And lastly, JellyBean has already been announced and is on it’s way! So not only are we still stuck on GB, but the phones around us will all have JB while we’re still waiting for ICS! It’s just BS. And the fact they can’t even come out and tell us their plans? That’s really what gets me. I’d rather them have an announcement weekly saying it’s being delayed, than not hear a peep from them. It’s just frustrating, and has become about a lot more than just “enjoying” the “features” of ICS.

  19. OhHai says:

I’m rooted and running an ICS rom…i was expecting so much more from ICS for some reason, not sure why but wasn’t really all that impressed. Sure its got some new tweaks and features but nothing that warrants a “OMG, WHERE IS ICS ALREADY?!?!?!”

    1. ajleight says:

I’m to the “OMG…” stage and I’ll tell you why. It’s not because I am so impressed with ICS that I am watering at the mouth to enjoy all the new features. Not at all.. I’ve had ICS for 3 or 4 months now on my Galaxy Nexus and I completely agree – it’s “meh” at best. But the fact that I’ve had it for 3 or 4 months now on a different phone (which I recently sold when switching to AT&T), and the fact that JellyBean is now being shown off and ready for launch, makes me shake my head in disgust that we don’t have it. And another reason I think it’s perfectly fine to have the reaction you’ve claimed it does not warrant, is because we were promised it months ago. Q1 2012 is all we heard. That time came and went… nothing. No announcements, no “So sorry, but we didn’t forget” or “we just want to see how it does internationally first!”… nothing.

So, yeah… when we’re promised it months ago, phone all around us have it, and now there will be phones VERY shortly with a version even newer than it – I think that qualifies as a reason to say OMG, WHERE IS ICS ALREADY?!?!?!

  20. Genkigamer says:

It will come as soon as Samsung galaxy note 2 come out in august! Jelly bean! Why wait for ics and suite etc, for customer having problems they should just give everyone jelly bean upgrade!!! I don’t care for ics i want jelly bean instead!!!

  21. Obed Castaneda says:

jelly bean would have to be the next upgrade because they really messed up on ics just like windows vista . . i hope that jelly bean is our windows 7 and come save the day . if they do not release it than ill just change my att galaxy note to the note 2 when it comes out . although i wouldn’t want to spend more money on a phone . i rather make an upgrade on my alrdy expensive phone . i agree on the delay release of ics because i had a ics rom and it gave me nothing but problems . screen will crash . . camara will not work or save ur pictures . . S pen do not work . .. my battery somehow died faster . .etc. just bugs here and there that really annoy you. so with that being said.thanks att for not releasing it yet when the ics is so unstable and buggy. i rather stay on gingerbread and wait for either the note 2 or the newest jelly bean version . which ever comes first.

    1. Nautycasport says:

I understand that completely. But I think Jelly Bean would have major lag if it was brought to the existing Note. The processing of the current Note might not be fast enough. It would be like running Windows 7 or 8 on a Windows 2000 processor. The graphics, resolution, and even the speed would be way to slow. But that would be a good idea for carriers to ditch ICS and go straight to Jelly Bean if the current processor could handle it.

        1. Nautycasport says:

That was just basing the problems with lag others have had on their Note. JB is 2 updates ahead of Gingerbread and as of now there is still a little bit of slowness. It could possibly work but if we’re leaving it up to AT&T, I’ll see you guys here around Dec or Jan for the JB for Note comments. Lol.

      1. Dave Clary says:

The processor in the Note, especially the international version, is the equal or better than the Galaxy Nexus. There’s no reason Jelly Bean wouldn’t work.

      2. Welera28 says:

Nautycasport for your information, The International Galaxy Note is dual core 1.4 GHz while the Galaxy Nexus dual core is 1.2 GHz. So If it ICS is good enough for Galaxy Nexus, so it is for the Galaxy Note and if Galaxy Nexus receive JB so Galaxy Note will receive it. The processing of Galaxy Note is faster than Galaxy Nexus.

  22. Lisa says:

I made a huge error when I got the vs the 4S. I was so impressed with the camera since my job requires sometimes taking pictues of transformers, electrical outlets ect. Yes the camera takes really good pictures. What is worse is at first I called about the battery not holding a charge for more than 4 hr without use. ATT sent me a battery overnight. Then I realized I was lied to by the rep instore when I asked can I use my previous apps. I cannot. Under the clever lil’ Samsung app is NOTHING! Next my phone started freezing, texts bounce back wih a message which disappears. The phone - day by day get slower, from note to text to phone. The plus side for ATT is I am running data 24/7 if I disable any “google” settings I will loose my data. Now the camera freezes. I am unable to call, take pictures, or e mail. I am keeping my end of the bargain by paying my bill every month. I’ve been with ATT for 20 years.
I am so frustrated. The best ATT offered me is to pay them 439.00 and they will give me a credit for 250.00 it’s insane. Please let me ATT more money! I know there must be other owners who have come across this problem. Lisa not so Lavida

    1. Bati Tsogtsaikhan says:

This doesn’t pertain to just the Note. Defective products are inevitable and from my experience, ATT and especially Amazon Wireless have been good at quickly sending replacements.

  23. Bati Tsogtsaikhan says:

This delay in updating has assured my decision to never buy subsidized phones EVER. After my note, i will be buying nexus phones from google, unlocked iphone or unlocked WP. Just another way of saying screw you back at the ATT jokesters that don’t care about their costumers.

  24. Meligo says:

It’s ATT, big mistake. But real problem in Google release.I still use Samsung Focus, and then Microsoft do update , i don’t need wait ATT for update, Zune do it. So Google need do same , one peace for update  should go from provider, but main update only from Google .It will be easy and smart

  25. Nautycasport says:

AT&T RELEASE DATE FOR ICS IS JULY 10th 2012. TOMORROW OR BY WEDNESDAY YOU SHOULD HAVE A NOTIFICATION FOR THE UPDATE. IF NOT, CALL YOUR LOCAL AT&T BRANCH TO SEE IF THERE IS A SCHEDULE ON WHEN YOUR AREA WILL RECEIVE IT. HOPE THIS BRINGS A SMILE TO EVERYONES DAY.

  26. so nobody ever talks about the international version of this phone that we (people of the U.S.) bought through Amazon and other sources.  When will WE get ICS? and how will we get it, OTA or KIES?

    1. Welera28 says:

Exactly Spyder Ryder, unfortunately international version Galaxy Note GT-N7000 owners like myself are screwed with the waiting. In my case, australian version GT-N7000XXLA4 is in limbo, but after knowing all the problems with ICS around the world, I am wondering if I really bother with ICS or rather wait for Jelly Bean instead someday in the future and hold to Gingerbread.

  27. Lisa says:

I just wanted to say thank you for all the comments and suggestions. I have a mini arsenal went I call ATT manana. I do know that Samsung provides the “parts” as did Qualcom in to 90’s. I so live the phone. But as the days pass the phone is grinding to a halt. Is always surprises me when I use my phone, having to restart it cause it just shut off all on it’s own, Pop ups of tutorials . Life is carnival, and ATT is the carni.

  28. M_coleman76 says:

I updated to ice cream sandwich yesterday (July 13th), now I am unable to control media volume on my Samsung Galaxy Note! Very frustrating!

  29. isprobi says:

No OTA update available yet but I don’t want it unless it will not mess up my phone. I tried Kies and it doesn’t recognize my phone when I plug it in. Samsung and AT&T this totally sucks. Fix it!.
