Android ICS Samsung Galaxy Chat announced

Old Sammy has a new smartphone coming out this month, an entry level handset called the Samsung Galaxy Chat, a candy-bar handset with a QWERTY keyboard, and runs the Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system right from the outset, and is set to make its debut in Spain first.

According to the guys over at GSM Arena by way of Samsung Tomorrow, the Samsung Galaxy Chat has been designed for ‘socially active users’ enabling users to connect to people around them more easily, and has a sleek compact design.

When it comes to specs for the entry level Galaxy Chat, the device offers the user a 3-inch QVGA LCD touch screen, with a 4-row physical QWERTY keyboard beneath, a 2 megapixel rear facing camera, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, an 850MHz application processor, FM radio, 3.5mm jack, 4GB internal memory, microSD expansion up to 32GB, and of course Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Samsung Galaxy Chat measures 118.9 x 59.3 x 11.7mm with a weight of 112 grams and a 1200mAh battery, and comes with S Planner and Quick Office applications pre-installed.

As mentioned above, the Samsung Galaxy Chat will release in Spain this month initially and then will gradually be released in other markets such as Europe, Middle East, China, Latin America, South-east and South-west Asia, and is said to have a competitive price point, but what that ‘competitive price point’ actually is remains to be seen.

So if you are in the market for an entry level Samsung Android handset, does the Samsung Galaxy Chat float your boat?
