Google Nexus 7 leaked dates for takeoff in UK & Canada
We’ve been keeping readers informed with all the details about the Google Nexus 7 tablet that is currently creating huge interest. So far finding specific release dates hasn’t been that easy, with the Nexus 7 rumored to release in the U.S in mid-July and other regions around the same time or shortly afterwards. Today though we have news of leaked release dates for the U.K. and also Canada though we should stress that these are so far unconfirmed.
The Nexus 7 is set to sell like hotcakes and pre-orders through the Google Play store have been huge. If you want to find out more on specs, prices and how to order then check our previous article here. The 7-inch tablet sports a Tegra 3 quad-core processor as well as being the first device that will launch running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and as the price is extremely competitive we think this could well be the biggest Android tablet yet.
The first release details we have heard of are for the UK where it seems that retailer Currys has listed the Nexus 7 on its website with a launch date of July 19, according to Gadget Helpline. We must point out that Google hasn’t yet confirmed this date although it has happened before that major retailers leak a release date early in order to bag their share of sales.
The leaked release date for Canada meanwhile is July 23 and this comes from Staples in Canada. Originally potential customers of the Nexus 7 in Canada were told a late-July release date for the tablet was likely so it looks like this will come about. This news came to us through Phandroid from Staples Canada and those who place pre-orders in Canada have been given July 23 as an expected shipping date and also told that it will be available then both online and in-store.
Obviously these dates could still change or may not be accurate in the first place so don’t head down to your stores on these dates without checking first. We shall of course bring you more news a soon as we hear anything more concrete but at least this may give you something to go on for now.
Are you waiting for the release of the Google Nexus 7? What is the over-riding factor about this tablet that has made you choose it, the quad-core CPU, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, reasonable price or something else entirely? Let us know by sending your comments.
