New HTC supercharged phone could be Rezound successor

We have some pretty exciting news today about a supercharged HTC phone in the pipeline that could possibly be a successor to the HTC Rezound. Even better is that this new HTC phone has been put through a series of GL Benchmark tests and achieved remarkable results with high scores not seen before. This could be a smartphone to keep a serious eye on.

Back in April we gave readers some news from a leaked Verizon roadmap and one of the snippets of information concerned what was described as an upcoming HTC flagship phone as competition for the successful Samsung Galaxy Note. This was noted to be due in the fall on Verizon and the latest details on the phone that has been benchmarked certainly seem as though it could be this mystery HTC flagship smartphone.

The upcoming HTC superphone looked likely to have a quad-core Krait processor, Adreno graphics, whopping 5-inch 1080p HD display, a Scribe Pen and would feature HTC Sense 5.0. The latest news on this from BGR, sourced from Droid-Life fills us in with more information though and tells us there will be Adreno 320 graphics, that it will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and will be a 4G LTE-equipped handset. Major news concerns the processor, which we’re now informed is no usual Snapdragon S4 processor but will be a supercharged 1.5GHz MSM8960T chipset.

These specs have led to GL benchmark tests with exceptional results. Comparing them to the HTC One X as a guide we can tell you that the upcoming HTC superphone achieved 121.1 fps on Egypt Offscreen as opposed to 64.8 fps for the HTC One X. The new phone also achieved 110.5 fps on Egypt Pro as opposed to 94.8 fps for the One X, so as you can see these results are something to get excited about!

One thing making life more difficult at the moment is this promising HTC phone has no name yet and is merely codenamed ‘dlx.’ However as its model number is HTC6435 and as the HTC Rezound’s model number is HTC6425, it seems very likely that the new superphone will be a successor to the Rezound although the specs of the new phone will blow those of the Rezound and other phones out of the water.

We’ll certainly be keeping readers informed about this upcoming supercharged HTC superphone and we feel from what we know so far that many people will want to hear more. What are your thoughts on this new HTC phone? From the benchmark scores alone are you already thinking this could be your next smartphone choice? Let us know with your comments.

Actually it would make since for it to be the rezound’s successor because the rezound was the first phone to have a 720p display so this new phone would likely be the first to have a 1080p display.

PLEASE let this be a Note competitor!!! Or even a Razr competitor for that matter.  I am ready for a new phone, but don’t want a Nexus, GSIII, or Razr.

  3. I really hope this comes to fruition soon.  My Thunderbolt is starting to feel like a Commodore 64 over here.  I’m ready for a quad-core beast sporting an HD display.  I just don’t want a Samsung or a Motorola.  HTC has been good to me for the most part.  If they roll out another monster, I’ll stick with them (even though I’m still p*ssed they wasted the One X on AT&T after I spent 6 months following it’s production).  Time for them to bring another heavyweight to Verizon.

I cant wait! Got stuck wth a Galaxy S3 cuz of its 2gs of RAM. Wish that HTC would have been more on it when I was phone shopping. Love HTC and will miss them til my S3 is broken or stolen.
