Back at Mobile World Congress 2012, Panasonic introduced the Panasonic Eluga Power to the mobile space, and now that 5-inch Android Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone has made its way through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and gained approval for the USA.

According to the guys over at Engadget, originally the Panasonic Eluga Power smartphones was thought to only support quad band GSM and 900/2100 MHz UMTS; however the FCC docs reveal that the Android Ice Cream Sandwich Eluga Power also comes with 3G support for the 850 Mhz band.

Not too long ago the guys over at Tech Radar reviewed what the Panasonic Eluga Power had to offer potential customers, and the device sports a 5-inch HD touch screen along with an 8 megapixel rear facing auto-focus camera, 1080p video, and front facing camera, a 1.5GHz dual core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, NFC, microSD expansion up to 32GB, and an 1800mAh battery.

According to the guys the Android handset is also dust proof and waterproof, and features super fast charging that can apparently charge half the battery in just 30-minutes, and deliver an 80 percent charge in just under an hour.

Getting back to the Panasonic Eluga Power gaining FCC approval for the US, the guys say that although the usefulness of the Eluga Power is somewhat limited in the United States, those that have been tempted to import the device can now go ahead and do so if they still wish.
