Video and photos compare iPhone 5 parts with current model

Over the last few months we have seen a number of images of what are being claimed to be parts for the upcoming iPhone 5, which is now a situation that is repeated each year leading up to a new version of the Apple smartphone being released. Now there is a video and photos that are comparing alleged iPhone 5 parts with the current model.

The guys over at MacRumors are reporting that iPhone component company ETrade Supply has posted a detailed comparison of the front panels from the iPhone 4S, alongside what is being claimed are from the upcoming iPhone 5. Along with a number or earlier rumours the new front panel shows a taller screen, and the Face Time camera being repositioned to above the handsets earpiece.

There is also a video that can be seen below along with a number of images that compare the two parts that also show that the part is 0.1mm thinner. Other changes include a more scratch resistance surface than before along with more light transmittance. The site has had a close look at the home button area of the front panel, and has discovered the hole for the button is 0.3mm smaller in diameter compared to the current iPhone.

It has also been noticed that the gap between the bottom of the panel and the bottom of the display area is 2.6mm shorter, which will allow the company to increase the size of the display while only adding slightly to the height of the handset. There has been alleged iPhone 5 parts caught on video before but this is the most detailed comparison with the current model so far.

Meanwhile it is being reported by Cnet that during the ongoing court case between the company and Samsung, marketing Chief Paul Schiller was asked by Samsung’s attorney whether the next iPhone would look anything like previous models, or if changes were in store. Apple’s legal team understandably quickly objected to the question arguing that the answer would divulge confidential information.

Judge Lucy Koh allowed the question to go ahead that silenced the court room, and Schiller replied that he would “prefer not to tell confidential information about future products”, and then wasn’t pushed for any more information.

It is now widely believed that Apple will be holding a special event on September 12th to reveal the iPhone 5 alongside a new smaller version of the iPad. As we get further into this month the accuracy of these rumours will be revealed.

Do you think these iPhone 5 parts are the real deal?
