Galaxy S3, S2, Note & Note 2 Jelly Bean update details

Those that own a Samsung Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy Note or after the Galaxy Note 2, will probably know they they will gain the Android Jelly Bean update to their device, but how far along is that Jelly Bean update to being pushed out to your Sammy handset?

Well we have some details on how far the Jelly Bean update is along courtesy of the guys over at Sam Mobile, who say that the test firmwares for the Samsung Galaxy S3 have passed, and they are working on a public version of Android 4.1, and the wait is on the public version along with Google’s agreement.

When it comes to the Samsung Galaxy S2, old Sammy is still testing out Android Jelly Bean, but initial tests are looking fine. Due to the Galaxy S2 still selling, old Sammy will update the smartphone to Jelly Bean; however if they decide otherwise, they will deliver a value pack update, but for now it is still on track for the SGS2 to gain Android 4.1.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Note, it appears the situation is the same as with the Galaxy S2, with initial tests looking good, but Sammy hasn’t offered any more word as to if or when the Note will gain the update.

Lastly the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which is due to be showcased during IFA 2012 in Berlin, apparently the test software is currently on Ice Cream Sandwich, , but word is it isn’t clear if Samsung will introduce the Galaxy Note 2 with ICS or whether they will deliver the device sporting Jelly Bean, but if the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 does arrive with Android 4.0 it will receive an update to Jelly Bean a couple of months after launch.

So there you have it, the state of play when it comes to the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 2, with expected update dates, although unconfirmed by Samsung, being the SGS3 at the end of Q3 or beginning of Q4, the SGS2 is expected sometime in Q4, along with the Note update, and the Note 2.
