Sony Xperia TX trying to terminate competition

Way back in April we gave readers news about a new Sony flagship smartphone due for the summer and at that time it was being referred to as the Sony LT29i Hayabusa. It was claimed that this would have impressive specs and we now have further news on this phone with its new name of the Sony Xperia TX, which will try to terminate the competition.

We’ve already told how the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is expected to be unveiled at IFA in Berlin on August 29 and now it appears the Sony Xperia TX could be revealed on the same date, which will certainly give smartphone enthusiasts a real choice to think about. There’s still no news on a precise release date for the Sony Xperia TX but we would imagine it won’t be too much longer after it’s made official at IFA.

Rumored specs now include a 4.6-inch display with resolution of 720 x 1280 giving a pixel density of 319ppi according to Ubergizmo, sourced from Xperia Blog. On top of that we expect a 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage expandable via microSD and a launch running Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, although some of you may have been hoping for 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Camera-wise the Xperia TX is likely to win a lot of fans with a 13-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter whilst it should also pack a large 2200mAh battery, which should also please many. These specs and features are not yet confirmed but it’s only a couple more weeks until the big reveal when we will know much more. If the majority of what we are anticipating turns out to be correct though, then the Xperia TX seems set to offer some very credible competition against the Galaxy Note 2 and also of course Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5.

We’d like to hear your thoughts on the Sony Xperia TX. Had you been thinking of another handset as your next smartphone choice? Maybe hearing of the Xperia TX has now raised another option for you? Let us have your comments on this.
