Huawei Ascend D1 price & release date for China

Way back during Mobile World Congress in February, Huawei announced the Huawei Ascend D Quad smartphone, and the company stated the Android smartphone would ship in the first half of this year. However the handset has seen delay after delay, and seven months after its announcement the mobile space is still waiting for the handset to make an appearance.

However, it appears the wait for that long delayed Huawei handset is almost over because according to an article over on Unwired View by way of IT168, the manufactured seems to have resolved the issues with production and will begin shipping the newly renamed Huawei Ascend D1 on the 12th of this month in China.

Price wise apparently the Huawei Ascend D1 will command a price tag of 2699 Yuan, which is roughly 425-bucks, which seems a tad overpriced considering the quad core Xiaomi phone 2 sells for 315-bucks, whilst the Lenovo LePhone K860 is up for sale for 345-bucks.

Back during the Barcelona event the Huawei smartphone with its 4.5-inch IPS touch screen and 1.5GHz K3V2 quad core processor was probably the best specc’ed Android handset at the event, and had Huawei managed to deliver the device on schedule in the first half of the year, that hefty price would have been more competitive, but no so much now.

Other specs on the Huawei Ascend D1 include, an 8 megapixel rear facing auto-focus camera with dual LED flash, 1080p video, a 1.3 megapixel front facing snapper, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory, microSD expansion up to 32GB, WiFi, Bluetooth, and runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

Currently though there is no word on if you when the Huawei Ascend D1 will gain an international release. But if it does would you consider picking up the Ascend D1?
