We have seen a high number of press events taking place over the last couple of weeks, and later today smartphone maker HTC will be taking its turn to reveal something to the world. There is also a Liveblog for the HTC Big Event taking place today, which will have many pondering suspicions of what may be seen.

Earlier this month HTC sent out press invites for the event today asking us to save the date, and inviting us to join HTC to find out what’s next. Only yesterday the company provided an image of an unknown product that had a small 10:08 on the back, and the words “When beautiful hardware meets stunning software.”

HTC put the image on its Facebook page that can be seen below, but the mystery surrounding the event continues. It is thought that HTC will have some new hardware that will be running the Microsoft Windows Phone 8 software, and the X8 has been leaked a number of times.

We have also heard of a rumoured 5-inch phablet device that could be launched to challenge the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and the device codenamed the HTC 6435LVW is said to feature a 1080p HD display with 480ppi. Under the hood it is claimed to have a quad core Snapdragon S4 processor with 1.5GB of RAM.

The event kicks off in New York at 11AM ET, which for our readers in the UK is 4:00PM, and the guys over at Engadget are providing a LiveBlog for the event that can be found here. There is a good chance that the company will be showing off a device for the Windows Phone 8 platform, as the line of “beautiful hardware meets stunning software” could quite easily be hinting at Microsoft’s new operating system.
