Samsung Galaxy Note X steps up to 6.3-inches and then some

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is soon to be released and we’ve not held back with our enthusiasm about this upcoming larger-screened smartphone. When the original Galaxy Note was launched there was some doubt as to whether a phone with such a big display would catch on and many described it as a ‘phablet.’ However those doubts were dispelled with massive sales and the Galaxy Note 2 got even bigger. But how big is too big? We’d like to introduce you to the Samsung Galaxy Note X with a display that steps up to 6.3-inches.

If you thought the 5.5-inch display of the Galaxy Note 2 was huge then imagine the Galaxy Note X with 6.3-inches of glorious viewing. Before you get too excited though we have to tell you that the Note X is actually a concept phone and won’t be hitting the shelves any time soon but we thought this concept was so interesting that readers would enjoy seeing it. The designer has created a Note X with a Super AMOLED Plus display, though the size of the 6.3-inch display with HD resolution also makes us wonder, when does a phablet become a tablet?

It was brought to our attention by Concept Phones and designed by Erica Yusim and in fact we think many Galaxy Note 2 fans may well enjoy the Note X if it ever became to be a genuine product on sale. The concept has some great specs which could get Android fans drooling such as a Cortex A15 2GHz quad-core processor, 16-megapixel rear camera, 3-megapixel front-facing shooter, 3GB of RAM and storage options of 32, 64 and 128GB. The Galaxy Note X also has a whopping 4000mAh battery, next-generation S Pen stylus, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, AGPS, Glonass, USB 3.0 host, mHL and NFC. On to the all-important operating system and the Galaxy Note X of course has Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.

It weighs 220g and is 8.3mm thick and the concept images show a stylish and handsome device. We reckon this, combined with the specs, is enough to have many readers thinking, ‘if only.’ For now though you’ll just have to keep dreaming. We’d love to hear our reader’s thoughts on this Galaxy Note X concept.

If this phone were to ever hit the shelves would you be first in line? How long do you think it will be before the above specs are commonplace in top-end smartphones? We’d like to receive your comments on this.

I must measure my pants pockets before getting this smartphone! The specs arre super and I hope this phone is released early next year! What may hurt this smartphone is the price. It will be well over $1,000! When smartphones fails to fit in pockets, it is no longer a cell phone! Any cell phone over 6 inches should no longer be considered a cell phone. I am already questioning the size of the Galaxy Note 2!

    1. Hi James,
Personally, I doubt this device will cost what you suggest. The Chinese, 6 inch devices, are already on track to match the suggested ‘spec – and they are WELL UNDER the $1000 mark.
Have faith, Samsung really wants to cover this market – watch this space, and be patient !

Great idea I would definitely have one. I have the note 1 and love it! I think it would be a ladies phone as it would go in a handbag. It would be too bing for a pocket.

  3. I wear a regular man’s jacket, occasionally I wear a ‘bomber’ jacket and I wear casual shirts with a top packet almost all the time.
I can assure you that all of those pockets – and a man-bag I sometimes use – will accept up to a 7 inch tablet.
In my opinion, the 6 inch devices coming out of China by the shed load – and this 6.3 inch Sammy device – would EASILY fit in blokes and girls pockets with NO TROUBLE.

I think that they could totally pull off this screen size without increasing the phones footprint. My 4.3 inch Galaxy S2 measures just over 5 inches diagonally, so if manufacturers start producing phones with little to no bezel it’s totally possible. 6.3 inches could totally fit the footprint of the current Galaxy Note if the bezel was reduced.

i dont think that this galaxy note x will not reach shelves and stores till late 2013 or early 2014.; and the price i think will between $800-$1000…
But i would be 1 of the first to get this amazing phone..
I have the galaxy note 1, and really want to get the Galaxy Note 2, but dont know if the Galaxy Note X will reach stores anytime soon, so i dont know if i should wait…

Samsung’s 6.3 diagonal is probably the largest possible phone, but Google would probably sell millions of it’s Nexus 7 with a cell chip and a Bluetooth earpiece. Each person decides what’s best for them, some buy subcompacts, others buy trucks.

The screen it self would be 79mm x 140mm, with the note 2 bezels this would be a tick under 90mm (the note is 83mm wide). I could probably handle that 🙂

The screen area would be 109cm^2 compared with the note 2’s 85cm^2.

Personally i think the specs are made up by some 15 year old geek but i wouldn’t bet against samsung bringing out a 6″+ device. Personally i think the note 3 would have a screen around 5.8-6″ anyway.

You could get a 5.8 screen out the notes oroginal desighn. Make it wal to wall with physical buttons and embossed samsung logo right over the live screen. Why not, whats the poing holding empty space in front of you. Mx

Just so Samsung knows, I’m interested in this phone. I’d buy this phone. the specs are awesome, I didn’t see micro-sdxc card support on that list but i’d like it in the phone. For my purposes, larger screen with no bezel (+ better video engine i presume) are the selling points. Edge to edge screen with no bezel = WIN. I’d trade excessive processing for good processing + battery life. Trade 16 mp camera for a 5mp camera with larger light sensor + flash for posterity worthy indoor/dark photos. Too late to request a kickstand or is that too old fashioned?
